Dear Jill, I am an English teacher myself. Even though, your accent is American, I find it especially useful to listen to yourclasses. Unfortunately, I think, modern foreign languages teachers kill their students with pronunciation of the specific words. They do forget that language is a chain of the words’ sequence so to understand a foreigner, it is crucial to know how the intonation operates, and not what a single word stress is. Thank you, Jill, and keep going🚣🏼
@JillDiamond3 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome and THANK YOU Mikri! Where do you teach English? I hope my classes help you practice the chain of the words, as you say!

Excellent class, Professor. Jill Diamond. There are hundreds of video lessons, but with a direct student it gives the feeling of being really alone in the classroom. And training with the student does not invite you to really participate. Congratulations! Dorgival Dantas Brito São Paulo Brasil

Great lesson. I'm really trying to exercise in the same way but it's so difficult to include what you learn at the same time you make a conversation. But maybe my problem is that' I'm also trying to translate it from my language. So many things to control at the same time.
@mohsenheiba45307 жыл бұрын
sophia7gr hi Can are we speak together to enhance our English language?
@JillDiamond7 жыл бұрын
There are many things to think about when speaking a second language, that is true. Try to focus on one thing per week so that you can start to see and hear improvement.
@JillDiamond7 жыл бұрын
There are many things to control at the same time Sophia. I suggest you choose one thing per week and focus on that knowing that the rest may not be perfect. It will all come together with your determination and will! Good luck.
@JillDiamond6 жыл бұрын
I think it is very important to separate the practice from the real time. In other words, as long as you have regular exercises you work on, you will build the muscle memory. And when you go to speak, you have to trust what you are learning in your exercises will show up. It may not be exactly at the speed you want, but again, as long as you consistently practice, I promise you will see the results over time. Good luck and thanks for watching my channel!

This is the 1st time I watch a video of yours, and I really like it! I was able to learn the patterns you taught, and after applying them on my own speech I could notice how much more American I sounded, haha. I'm used to talking with Americans, but couldn't figure out how to sound more like a native; after you explained the speech patterns I was like "ohhh, so that's how they do it". Definitely gonna subscribe and keep checking your work!

Helloo.dear.gotta question.in a sentences with sem stressed words with more than1 syllable,shud i put stress JUST on their stresses syllable,or shed i put stress on whole that multi syllable word?.thank in advance fer ur answering.nima from iran
@JillDiamond2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nima. If I understand your question, with multi-syllabic words, you'll have more than one stressed syllable. However, the PRIMARY syllable gets the longest, loudest, and highest pitch. So, we still need to hear that ONE syllable is the most important. Does that help?
