Check out the inside label on 501® jeans. 501® jeans are 100% cotton. Denim refers to the type of weave that jeans usually come in, which are produced using a left hand twill method. Wrangler® jeans became famous in the 1970s when the 'broken twill' style denim; which is the zig-zag pattern that they are famous for became a common feature of the brand, . I appreciate your craft and bringing back that old school 'cholo' style of creasing and cuffing. I myself am not into the mid leg (cowboy creases), but I am into ironing my own clothes and using starch or 'ironing spray' when ironing jeans or shirts. I personally like to use water and appreciate the steam when ironing (then again, the mid leg creasing is not a method that I employ), because I've found it to be helpful. I used to wear 501®'s all the time, but haven't for years. My method for getting the best outcome out of denim (as I like it) raw or not is to actually iron inside out first (like you, I've had several attempts and have done what works for me and I feel looks best on me through trial and error. I did not start out ironing them inside out when I began). My reason for starching inside out, is I've found that the rigidness sinks into the fibers better that way; especially if you're ironing non raw denim, you can still get the closest thing to a raw denim outcome. Unlike you, I use Faultless Spray Starch as I feel that the concentration of Stay Flow can be damaging to denim fibers. After starching inside out (seam to seam as I don't care for the mid leg crease; and yes, I'm in my 40's so I understand your pops....Growing up in the 90's and dressing that way was a huge red flag as to gang affiliation...and I was never drawn to the look for myself although I do respect it) both the front and back, I flip my jeans over and proceed to spray the starch (apply a pillow case over the denim as to not leave starch stains) as I iron and the end result are crisp looking jeans that end up wrinkling/breaking in the way I like it (denim effects/whiskering). I've also found that having my jeans ironed/starched flat makes getting cuffing and getting a proper cuff that much easier; of course, I like doing a full cuff; 1.5 inches on average. Everyone has their own personal story and history, which is cool. The way we choose to dress I feel tells a story about ourselves and our experiences. Back in the late 80's and early 90's I was drawn to the Alternative Music Scene/Punk Rock and New Wave, so my purpose for starching jeans and wearing them the way I do is to emulate that trimmed down 80's mod/punk/new waver sort of look that I identify with as it's what influenced and informed me in my formative years. On a side note: growing up, I was economically disadvantaged when it came to purchasing clothes although I knew what I really liked. As an adolescent I never really ironed. It was after serving in the U.S Army that I learned about ironing and ironing has become a passion and habit of mine since then. Excellent tutorial by the way. Your articulation as to how you feel about denim and your reason for engaging in this discipline really impressed me and shows maturity and wisdom beyond your years. Wish you and your channel all the best.

Wow, I am absolutely at a loss for words from your very heartfelt comment. I am so thankful for your comment and compliments it is greatly appreciated and will not go unnoticed. I can confidently say that even if I did not ever receive comments like this, and was getting 0 views on all my video I would absolutely still be making content. But this, this right here is a major plus. Not only did you educate me and give me new ideas, but you also spoke of me very highly. I will also remember never to let the old-school style of formality die, and your comment was definitely a huge reminder of that. If I'm going to be honest, and I shamefully admit this, there have been times when I have slacked on the style. But this comment right here reminded me that the style has never forsaken me so neither will I forsaken it. God bless you brother and thank you for keeping the stilo alive.

Great tutorial brother. I agree on not lining up the inseam, SOMETIMES you’ll be able to but more often you’re gonna have trouble laying them flat if you line up the inseam. And getting them to lay flat is a whole headache 😂 lots of good tips in this tho, I wish this was out when I first started cause creasing my Dickie’s is a piece of cake but I found out quick 501s are definitely a whole different beast. My first pair I made the crease right through the back pocket 😂 now when I redo em I just crease up to the pocket and leave the pocket flat. But I got it down after that pair 💪🏼

here's a tip: don't line up the seam on the 501 to put the crease, for some reason when you line up the seam it makes the levis impossible to lay flat, only align the seam if it is Ben davis or Dickies

I have been wearing Levis 501s since the late 1960s. I have always thought there are two 501 crimes - wearing them too short and ironing a crease. Twenty years ago I visited a friend and his wife, who grew up in Texas in the 1950s, ironed a crease in a pair of my 501s (I have over a hundred). Did I get upset. It took over a dozen washes for that embarrassment to go away. It turns out there is an additional 501 crime that wasn't invented until recently - never washing your jeans. If you want creased Levi's, get a pair of Levi's pleated Silver Tabs or Sta-Prest pants off of ebay. Those jeans/pants were designed to be creased and came that way from Levi's.

If you want the two creases going down the front just fold the shirt right on the center of the pocket, get a ruler and measure the distance from the zipper to that point where it’s folded and just do your best to eyeball that same distance down the rest of the shirt. It’s all about practice

But unfortunately you can never get that "brand new 501 feeling" after you wash them once. Even if you do not put them in the washer. Doesn't matter if you take it to the dry cleaners or do it yourself just make sure you use extra starch non-diluted.

The main thing is lining up the arms sleeves with the collar hem. It’s honestly preference if you want the sleeve crease to like up with the hem or for it to have the offset when the shirt is flat out in front. In order to get the v like collar, you’d need to button the shirt up and it’ll naturally fold in that way where the collar is at. Once you’ve got that down, then if you want to flare your collar, just unbutton the first button and spread the collar from the triangular tab ends and it should open. The last thing is to iron the tabs in place to get that open look with the collar flaring outward
