Please give a clarity on my confusion chetan that how will u think taking only one user(you as a user ) into the account and not taking further interviews as well as skipping secondary research to make decision will work for the product with only the common sense and only experience of your own self with the product , please don't take that this statement as offensive as this is in my head thats why openly asking for my own clarity because now I doing first case study from the problem statement you have been provided when I was doing it so with the help of free mentorship some of them says skip user interview and doing secondary research only enough and some of them say u need at least 5 users to come up with the decision so I was completely confused what step need to take and what not and you also tell in this video that secondary research was not needed but I used to heard that secondary research helps to take data driven decisions . so please give a clarity on this Chetan . Apart from my doubt this series was so awesome and really helpful a lot and I am grateful for this .

Valid question. So here is my answer. 1. All the advice you got is correct. But it totally depends on what information you can get, the scope of the problem, the risk you’re willing to take and ton of other factors. 2. Secondary research is not googling things. It’s doing benchmarking and looking at the data you have collected in your company. 3. You don’t have to do user interviews for every single problem statement. It doesn’t make sense. You need to do the research based on the above factors I mentioned. 4. In this case of redesigning an app all on my own, I lack a lot of information. And I’ve already mentioned this before. I don’t have access to the user data since I don’t work at Fold Money. 5. I could have done user interviews. But I’ve been a designer for a long time. I’ve been using fintech products for more than 5 years actively. I have a lot of uses cases that I need to use apps for. I also work for a fintech company. Hence I didn’t see the need to do user interviews. 6. However I did collect feedback posted by other users on their discord channels. This is not an excuse to not do user interviews. This is the best I can do as a project. If I was a designer at Fold, I would have a lot more to base my design decisions. Hence there is good chance my decisions are wrong and until I do user testing and get user feedback, I won’t know for sure. But it would be completely different if I was a designer at Fold. Hope this helps ✌️

Well I got your point, I might be wrong what I think is, there is no rule that you need to do something to make something work If you wished to skip research or user interview because you were pretty confident with the assumptions you made, I mean then its fine.

Chethan, whenever you said ". . . when you categorize expenses, OF COURSE you have to show all expenses" at 31:08 I laughed so much remembering how mad you were about Fold not showing all expenses in the first place. Thank you for these tutorials, this is pure gold and I hope people are not gatekeeping. I tell everyone about you wherever I can, especially people starting out because I believe learning fundamentals from you can save a lot of time for future designers wandering around KZbin and probably Instagram trying to find resources.

Great material, work of a true master, thank you. How would you design for an app based on a industry that you don't know? Like design for a stock market company. You might not know about what processes are in stock market, there are many technical terms, there are no linear flows, the user needs a bunch of tools but we don't know how and why he is using these tools... so how would you approach such a task?

Chethan sir plz answer my questions Q1: If we're manufacturing a product from a different country, like a food type that's only available there, how will we conduct user surveys? Because we need survey responses and results specifically from that country since the food brand is available there. Meaning, how will we approach reaching those individuals? For example, if we're making a product for India, we can conduct surveys among the Indian audience, but what would we do for foreigners? Q2: In research, do we derive personas from user surveys first? Then, do we create empathy maps from personas or one by one from surveys? Q3: Can we provide survey results to ChatGPT and ask it to generate user personas and empathy maps based on those surveys? Or should we do this process ourselves? What do you think? Q4: Do we create journey maps from user personas or from surveys? Please provide detailed guidance, and I apologize for taking up your time.

A1: The best approach would be to talk to users of the other country. You can sent a team there to speak to users or do it online. A2: It depends. What is the reason for doing the survey? Is it to identify which personas or solve for? Or is to understand the pain points of the personas you already decided. A3: ChatGPT is only a tool. It’s not a decision maker. If you know how to make ChatGPT synthesise good results then go for it. If not you can do it all on your own. Whatever works for you A4: Invalid question. You do journey maps when you want to understand the current behaviours of users or when you want to propose a solution the problem faced by current users.

These seems to be problem statements/user problems and not really a user story. A user story is like a user flow for a specific action the user wants to do.

@@DesignPilot If my understanding is correct, for the second user a user story could look like, I want to track the various expenses in my cafe so that I can price my products better to achieve my desired profit. Correct?

What about those stories that are usually displayed in design thinking Processes For example - Most case studies have this categorization of a user story with feelings doing & thoughts.

Thank you so much for this wonderful explaination about how really product designers think. I have a question, I have conducted user interviews in which i got to know the various needs and frustrations of users. I have created personas including those needs and frustrations. Please let me know if i'm wrong, user stories seem to be narrowed down to a single need or frustration. If that is the case, how to prioritize the problem out of the many insights one got to know from interviews? What needs or problems design should address and what it shouldn't?
@DesignPilot
@DesignPilot 7 ай бұрын
Yes. Your process is correct. Prioritisation depends on many factors. Ideally it’s quantity of people having the same problem. But it can also be ones that can be easily and quickly fixed.

Role of the acceptance criteria in user story Lets say i am creating movie ticket bookings app So one of the user story would be like I want to easily book the movie ticket that i want to watch so that i can enjoy my sunday .. My que is like what about the acceptance criteria to book a movie ticket there can be tons of things which needs to be done.. I never seen you writing acceptance criteria... Bcs you connect this Acceptance criteria things in solution phase. Where you decide what feature to need to build that let people book movie ticket and how you gone build it how the app is going to work Just wanted to have deep understanding about how your framework works plz ans 😕
@DesignPilot
@DesignPilot 5 ай бұрын
1. A user story needs to help you make a design decision. It doesn't matter why a user wants to book a ticket. So saying 'so that I can enjoy my sunday' is irrelevant. The user story you made validates the need for the booking app. But it's already established that you want to design a movie booking app. 2. Always make a user story for a specific part of the flow. For example browsing and searching, ordering food while booking a ticket. 3. User story tell WHY a user wants to do something. Acceptance criteria is about HOW a user is going to do something and define what is considered a successful task. Hope this makes sense.

100% it makes sense ... Acceptance criteria is about HOW a user going to do something and define what is considered a successful task This very thing how a user going to do something is what we do in solution phase which is depend on the user story you make
