I really enjoyed this podcast. It was what I needed to hear for where I’m at right this moment in my life. That has been my struggle is knowing where to begin. I am willing to do the work. However, what I have come across in many of the podcast is they have been geared towards men. I have researched many in order to do what this specific podcast speaks of. I use to be one of those women, doing crazy amounts of cardio, starving myself and always finding myself unsatisfied. Unsatisfied in the end results or how to maintain a leaner body. I use to run ridiculous amount of miles in order to stay fit and feel healthy. However, never being happy with the results. I am looking for what this podcast offers. I have gone 4years without out caring about my nutrition and weight. Part do to some hard hits in my life and the other being the mental awareness of the things I did in the past to have a healthy body. It was so much work for little results. In my eye of course. I have always wanted a lean muscular body( in the right places of course ) and still enjoy looking like fit female. I am grateful I have found or been lead to you, Mike Mathews in hopes of making this possible. Also, more then happy to hang up my running shoes. Running almost 10 miles a day is not something I’m willing to do anymore. It only set me back. Prevented me from my goals. However, it proved to me I have the ability to put in the time and effort. However, now I would like to move in a new direction. I tried weight lifting before. Never, really had the correct information. Also, the fear of looking or having a body that looks like a guy didn’t appeal to me. Thank you for reading my mind in terms of what my goals are and the myths that kept me from stepping back into a weight room. Lol, appreciate you.

Hey Mike. I just listened to your podcast and it's great but what about women who are trying to get into shape but are in the menopause phase of life who don't have estrogen assistance. I've been trying for a while and it's not working for me. I LOVE LIFTING WEIGHTS - Heavy weights. But I can't seem get past a plateau with body fat. Any suggestions?

Hey, Mike! I enjoy training Monday to Friday at the same time, since it keeps my routine predictable. What is your opinion on a training split that is like: Lower body, upper body, abs + glutes focused isolation exercises, upper body, lower body? Is it too much? Currently reverse dieting, not really looking forward to cutting in at least a year as I'm trying to recover from a year of reckless restriction.

It's not necessarily too much--that depends on how many sets you're doing, your experience level, your overall recovery ability, etc. But a 5-day split is perfectly workable. :) By the way, you might like this article: legionathletics.com/best-workout-split-for-women/

Hi Mike. Thanks for the girlie goodies. :0) Related to macros, what do you think the result would be of increasing fat intake and reducing carb intake? Think ketogenic diet with the goal of muscle gain and fat reduction. I'm flipping some things around with my diet to better support my muscle building efforts and I'm stuck on how much fat is "too much" when it comes to staying lean. Thanks!! Oh, my tdee is about 2100 so I try to hit about 2300 when I'm bulking. Fat about 70 to 80 g, carbs about 180 - 220, protein about 160 to 180. I try to have lower carb days through the week when I'm not working out which accounts for the fluctuation between protein and carbs.

Mike Matthews Thanks! Just watched it. I'll stick to what's been working, not introducing more fat as an energy source over carbs... it makes the most sense.

I have followed your training program for a few years now (all phase 4 times). Should l do higher reps/ slightly lower weight on my squats if I naturally have big legs even at my leanest - 17%BF (which looks like 15% on top and 20+% on bottom) I understand this is an issue of just losing more body fat. But anything lower than this and I am very uncomfortable and don't want to live like that, so that's not really an option for me Thanks. Love and trust your work.

I need a reply to this... I'm the same! I think some people have naturally more muscular legs (mine are short). The only way that I can slim down my legs is do absolutely no training with them, exceot walking ... but thats not an option because I like training! I don't want to lower my body fat anymore either!

I watched the "how to fix your metabolism for easier weightloss" and I'm a bit confused. My BMR is about 1800 kcal right now (female 230 lbs, 5'5") and I lost 11 lbs the first 6 weeks and now it's been a little difficult the past 5 weeks. I do maybe HIIT 2 days a week for 10-15 minutes (and I try to walk a few days a week) and then I do some weightlifting and core/back strengthening exercises. I eat 1800 kcal and I'm afraid to eat less to not destroy my metabolism. I can't just increase my calories and do more weight training when I have A LOT of fat to lose. :/ I'm constantly trying to find information and to learn more about fitness and health (but I don't want to be a hardcore fitness person). Does anyone have any tips ? "Diet down to 20 % if your're over 25 % bodyfat before focusing on muscle building" - in the video above. So I shouldn't do weighttraining and instead to cardio ? = Confused.
