I forgot ONE thing in this video! Okay so if you guys wanna level up your planes, you actually do want to dogfight. Try and fly around and wait for an enemy plane to get fliegerfausted. Once this happens (and trust me guys, it happens all the time to pilots who don't fly carefully) you want to swoop in and get the kill. Rinse and repeat until you have all the unlocks. Use your bombs on tanks too, you never know, sometimes you'll get a lucky kill. I hope everyone who needs this tip actually sees this, my bad for forgetting it!

I became fairly decent at flying in the European theater. All of that was thrown out the window with the Pacific. They handle totally differently (worse I think?) Hopefully future theaters follow the old flight models. Dogfighting is impossible atm.

Basically the things you use to control yaw. It's bound to the A and D keys and usually you would rudder towards the enemy plane. E.g. turning right use D, left use A, but in this current state you sometimes don't use them at all.

@@SilkOCE The two main things I change was the mouse sensitivity.....I needed more play and the setting you had a 1% - I turned that off because I didn't enjoy the slight blurry vision I got coming out of tight turns. You had other visual setting at low and I left them at medium. Oh - and your key settings I didn't follow as I have an old Steelseries keyboard which has a different layout that I enjoy.

Every KZbin pilot says watch out for the fliegerfaust but I’ve literally never been hit by one. It’s more important to worry about AA stations. And as far as the zero bomber goes, it’s actually pretty easy to dogfight if you just don’t let anyone get behind you. As long as you’re the first one shooting and aren’t heavily outnumbered, you can usually get the kill just as easy as in a fighter. Plus you have bombs so you’re not just worrying about dogfighting.

Somethings that helped me is to bind roll to A and D. Then bind yaw to left and right mouse. Pitch is set to up and down on the mouse. I have way more control with the plan and it helps with muscle memory because those controls are similar to playing infantry.

Knew all this which is reassuring, but only got to this point because of your original guides a year ago. This is the first game on PC where I am playing as a pilot and I've since gotten pretty good at it. I've also befriended some og EU Battlefield dogfighters who still dont believe me that this is my first experience with dogfighting and flying in BF lolol because I have such low hours in this game but still play on their lvl pretty much. Solid tips across the board, but there's one thing I'd change. Swap out improved control surfaces for the radar package on the Zero. For me the radar package is pretty much essential for dealing with enemy pilots. Helps a lot for stall maneuvers because you can track enemies through your blind spots without having to rapidly go back and forth between camera angles. It also helps a bit to keep you from getting tailed in the first place when you can see where your enemy is on the mini map obviously. And I think it even marks enemy planes for your squad as well, so if you get in trouble it's not hard to find the enemy for them.

Amazing video! Great content as always. I still think planes don't fit in quite right vs the infantry. Given the counters are one sided against veteran pilots, but flying in BF is still cool nonetheless. @@SilkOCE I would love it if they made the cannons more accurate and even more direct hit damage, but gave them less splash. Just like with the fliegerfaust raising skill gap would be great and it would be less of a crutch for bad flieger users and bad pilots. Either way an ace pilot like yourself would succeed regardless and I think it would make your prowess of the skies even more impressive to me. In fact it might even give you more killing potential if they did that since you're so accurate with these planes. I like the concept of high killing potential balanced with difficulty. Here's to the devs finding that sweet spot for us!

It's quite hard me to engage with planes when dogfighting. I paid attention to your manoeuvrings on the air with smooth angles. I play on PC and I use a keyboard. I use direction buttons on the keyboard and Q and E for manoeuvring. But when i click on any of the direction buttons on my keyboard, plane makes an immediate change of direction, not like manoeuvrings you show us in the video. For my manoeuvrings being very sharp and not ballanced, i easily miss the engaged targets on air. But you engage and are able to keep the target in front of you while doing soft manoeuvrings but when i click on my god damn direction buttons my plane makes so sharp moves and i hate it. I usually misfire. How can i fix it? Do i miss any configuration and do you have any suggestion for it?

I use a gamepad so i've been playing with my own settings. The worrying part you mention is that using rudder can screw up your turn speed... if so i'm at a big disadvantage because rudder and speed control is on the left stick so you press rudder even if you don't want to all the time. I'm wondering, first i'm hearing that speed burst increases turn speed, but if so.... wouldn't you want to full throttle while turning all the time to apply more speed? Again i'd be ad a disadvantage as i would have a very hard time full throttling and not applying rudder using left stick.

Yes you would want to full throttle all the time. It's what I do.

Using the right stick to roll only until in a good position. Or there is a setting for each stick that cancels x and y axis at full input. I could crank that all the way on the left stick maybe. I still don't see any information that explains the ridiculous maneuvering I'm seeing some pilots do They somehow turn tighter and effortlessly keep me in crosshairs even with all of my settings set up like yours and holding spacebar down with maneuvering If they somehow have the perfect angle on me I'd expect a few sweeps every few seconds - that's what I get when I'm tailing people - instead they somehow magically keep me in their sights When I'm tailing someone, I get a small window to shoot because spacebar (pitch up) turns too hard and mouse turns too light I mean I know it's not magic but nobody explains what tricks they're using to out turn me - for example on pacific storm out by the US Carriers just circling over the water. It's really frustrating because these players will just 100-25 or 75-0 laser me in a few seconds, yet it takes me forever to grind down an enemy plane somehow. I end up not learning anything and I just leave and find another game with weaker pilots where I can actually improve.

Um I'm not really sure. You need to remember that dogfighting isn't all about turning. There's a handful of manoeuvres that can counter that. I'd recommend searching for BF3/BF4/BF1 dogfighting tutorials and applying those tricks in BF5

Yeah, I understand what you are feeling. I use a, & d plus pitch up and I work my mouse as well if I am in a dog fight (small drags on the mouse...if that makes sense). Some pilots are very good at getting into good positions behind you so they can make longer contact with their bullets. I also do believe there is a small % of pilots out there running a passive hack or two. In the past 12 months in the Aussie servers I have seen 3 blatant pilot hackers and probably another 6 that it's too hard to tell if they're elite or cheating.

Gotta disagree on M5/1C viability. With the right builds I find they can be just as effective, and with the Heavy FFAR (2x) rocket loadout they can provide great assistance to anti armour efforts. I'm trying the 8x rocket loadout also but I like having the option for long range anti armour and great for stationary AA and still having the explosive 20mm's and also being able to spot to confirm targets just by using the zoomed reticle and not having to do a separate flare run (although the flares are a bit better for teamplay) Great vid tho!

Yeah I mean they're good still and will probably become dominant of the M2/A1's get nerfed. I just dont't think they're even close in terms of racking up kills and winning rounds.

Shouldn't you also attack enemy objectives in outpost? It gives you many points in the maps that you can have planes. (I don't know if it's all of them or specific outpost maps)

I'm using the mouse exclusively for rolling. You might have to raise your sens or maybe even bind it to Q and E or something easier to press if you know you're gonna need roll a lot

n00bsith most people who play competitive PC games run a giant mouse mat. If that's not an option, keeping a keybind or thumb button for rolling helps. Speedlund uses thumb buttons for big continuous rolls.

Tbh, with console settings, there isn't really enough buttons to optimise planes properly, you really need a scuff or elite controller and even then ,it's still quite demanding, but I could make a console controler set up vid if there was interest. I bashed this dlc for 2 weeks straight, but it got a bit 'rinse /repeat, so I'm taking a week out back to bf4

When I try to run your user config it crashes BF5 to the desktop with no error. Game starts almost makes to the game selection screen then just dumps back to the desktop. I have and Nvidia 1070 video card. Any ideas what the conflict might be?

Well.. i think im retarted.. ive bind my pitch up with e and pitch down with spacebar. Also my camera angle turns with the plane not keeping the horizon fixed. I dunno how but it effects the dogfights. People with horizon lock are too good in dogfight .

Guys. I had bf 5 installed before and I managed to set zoom on plane and tanks while I am in third person to far out position so I can see more of a battlefield. After I reinstalled the game today, camera position in third person is very close to vehicle and it is driving me crazy because I cant find in settings where to change this. Any help please? Note - I am playing on PC
