One brilliant thing you did was using the different shades of tile correctly, so they’re cohesive when lined up, as some tiles are darker than others. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

No worries praise where it's due ! What I really need help with is buying a tile cutter right now ...I have £300 Inc Vat to buy a manual tile cutter...any advice on a make and model to cut 12 - 14mm porcelain tiles would be so helpful...my job starts next Thursday so I haven't got long to pick one and buy it ... I'd be so grateful for your recommendation... Many thanks Johnny
@thebespokebloke2 ай бұрын
@@johnnystromberg Cheers man! Well I'd always recommend a Sigma cutter. Best tile cutters you can get IMO. I don't know if you've watched my video on them? But depending on what size your tiles are, You can probably pick a 60cm one up for around that money.

@@thebespokebloke Yes deffo saw the vid and I am definitely leaning to the Sigma or a Montolit.. 20yrs ago I too was all Rubi and still have my TS50+ but tiles have got bigger and harder. Thanks for the recommendation... appreciated 👍

@@johnnystromberg Yeah, I only use my Rubi for small tiles these days, I was the same.. all Rubi cutter back in the day. But like you say with tiles these days you need a superior breaking mechanism. I'm not a fan of the Monts compared to the Sigma, But they'll do the job. Best of luck mate!

I would never thing to start in the middle of the wall. i usually install a level baton just above the bath and start from there..... great tip!
@margaritasidirokastriti4497Ай бұрын
Also do you not leave space between the bath and tile for silicone and flexibility?
@thebespokeblokeАй бұрын
@@margaritasidirokastriti4497 Awesome thanks! Yeah I'd always start on a mid/set out line and work down first. Then cruise the top half! Yeah when you cut the tiles, you'd always leave a bit of play anyway, So you naturally leave small expansion gaps e.t.c. And if starting a full tile off a bath or something then a 2mm gap is always good!

Quality workmanship, i cant believe how clean you are, whenever i am doing any tiling, i end up covered in adhesive on my hands and usually my trousers, after watching you i should hold my head in shame. Loving the way you are doing the tile trims around the window, the (designer look) it looks great, i have always done mine the other way, but i will start to do it like yours now, i think it looks more professional. Is there a trick or system for doing the trim the way you do?, how much overlap of tile + adhesive should you add around a window etc. PS what is your name? I want to talk with you by your name and not call you mate all the time, i am in Essex, what part of the country are you, just incase you need a free labourer one day😂
@thebespokebloke8 ай бұрын
Haha thanks mate, I'm not so clean when I use black grout though :) Yeah nice, It is a more modern way of doing it, When you can. Generally a tiles thickness plus like 5-8mm for adhesive (as it will compact down) Is fine. I'm just filming some footage atm talking about trim and recess's/niche's. So should be a bit more information in there when it's done. It's Alec btw, I'm down South

Nice thanks. I’ve never just free handed from the middle and worked down as always worried about the tiles shifting. Would certainly make the job easier. On my next job the clients chosen small format wavey edged tiles for a kitchen slash back brick format. How would you tackle that ? I’m thinking laser/line through and eyeball it for spacing as best I can checking with laser. Would you aim for a whole tile at bottom or aim to cut all boundaries? Cheers.
@thebespokebloke3 ай бұрын
Yeah, we've always been taught to work from your middle line round the room first, and then do your top half.. (obvs situation depending) But it will always be easier and the benefit is you know your room will be completely level on that bottom half, So on the top section you know all your joints will line up fine. Depending on exactly what tiles they are I would dry lay some tiles with some spacers (you'd have to shimmery them around a bit as they are wavey) but if you get a measurement from like 4/5 tiles, Start a fall tile off the work top if it's level, Mark your measurement and draw that level line, Then you just need to work up to taht line, making sure you finish level on it, then anything above should be pretty straight forward. Maybe have a mix of 1mm and 2mm Spacers to assist.

👍🏻👍🏻 where do you buy your hole cutter from? Do they fit any angle grinder. I used one of your videos to do a feature wall in my bathroom, turned out great 👍🏻
@thebespokebloke9 ай бұрын
Awesome, Glad to hear, That's what it's all about! So the one's I use are made by Bosch, They are M14 (22.2 mm in diameter) size which fit's most generic angle grinders, But just double check first. I buy mine from my wholesale store, but In the UK you can get them from most places, even Amazon I believe. On Pro Tiler Tools here you can see all the sizes, Typically for a normal copper pipe 20mm is perfect and a pipe with a water cap on 30mm is good. www.protilertools.co.uk/product/bosch-dry-speed-m14-diamond-hole-cutters?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_LOwBhBFEiwAmSEQAVNLp0fiURMZaqnWk4AuHR3Bb9xReFjQTQSzMOesG7GOIx4fXWOsPRoCGh4QAvD_BwE Hope that helps!

@@thebespokebloke legend, 👍🏻 my local tile place recommended a drill bit and keep wetting it. If my floor tiles are all straight and i cant come up off them onto the walls matching it, would you recommend brick bond on the walls. There the same size tiles just different design on them. Not sure what would look best
@thebespokebloke9 ай бұрын
@@garinoakley Yeah the drill one's compared to an angled grinder one's just don't have the power imo, Never liked them! Regards tiles, I think it really depends what look you want in your bathroom, I'd say if you want a more contemporary look, Don't brick bond them but it's really personnel preference to the design you had in mind. It's always nice if you have the same size tile if you can match wall and floor, but it can be tricky for how things set out. But yeah I'd say just try and not make the joints look like you tried to match them up but were off, So try and keep them a fair bit apart if it doesn't ruin you wall set out. But in all honesty I'd concentrate on the wall tile set out if the floor is already done, accept they won't match up (it's not the end of the world, and I'm sure things will obstruct certain views down the bottom) And fingers crossed when you get a decent set out, when the tiles meet, the joints aren't to close in some areas
