You can just google the stock pick (e.g TSLA) and get graphs with the key information and stock performance. Then if you buy indexes you can see the performance on your investment app e.g. I do in Nordnet.

Thank you for the video!! It is so great to have you on that side clarifying the investment experience in DK. From what I understood BlockFi will pay interest on my USDC account montly, and one can choose in which currency (i chose in BTC). The BTC gainned through interest is then automatically added to my current BTC account in BlockFi which is also gaining interest. But I am starting to be worried about how to declare all of these movements and interests to Skat. Do I only need to do declare when retrieving the money back to my DK account? Plus, can you explain how to fill the taxes in case of crypto and stock investments through Revolut? All the best! And enjoy the danish summer weather!
@MarioScianHQ
@MarioScianHQ 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! My suggestion for crypto is to just document everything: when you bought, what price, which exchange, when you sell (if you sell), what interest/yield you get, etc. Then you have all that in place when you need to align with skat. But otherwise I don't know the specifics yet for e.g. BlockFi. I heard that the government is looking to update the crypto rules later this year, that should help clarify.

@@MarioScianHQ thanks Mario. I have kept all data so hopefully I will be able to have an open conversation with Skat. I just feel that this is also very confusing for them. Let's wait and see how the new rules play a role on investment selection. Keep up the good work.

I think it's not worth it -- every time you get "investing experts" to weigh in our your picks you end up leaving money on the table and in almost every time going with indexes you beat their results over the medium or long term. But I haven't really researched much about it so can't tell for sure.

Hi Mario, Love the channel and looking forward to more videos. What is your take on having an emergency fund living in Denmark? Do you have one and if yes, on what scale? I can't decide on how important I think it is to have a couple of months worth of expenses in cash when I already pay A-kasse and plan to invest a lot in index funds which could also rather quickly be turned into cash in case of an emergency. I'm curious to hear how you view this.
@MarioScianHQ
@MarioScianHQ 2 жыл бұрын
I rather always have cash in hand -- 50Kish, maybe more? Even if stocks are very liquid, you don't want to have to sell on a rush. First, in case of an emergency, but also in case e.g. there's an incredible opportunity to buy something and you need the liquidity. It doesn't hurt.
@iBrows1
@iBrows1 2 жыл бұрын
@@MarioScianHQ 50k cash sounds reasonable. Some people recommend 3-6 months worth of expenses, but I think that is overkill in Denmark.

Im in Australia but intend to buy EDEN- a US based Denmark index fund. Reason being Denmark is largley proestant country and this is the key factor to economic growth (see The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism). This is why US economy has been going so well for 200 years (avg 7.7% annual ROI with dividends reinvested)

Hello Mario! Thank you for the useful information. When you were talking about Index Funds in Denmark, in the video "Investing in Denmark - Ultimate Guide to Optimizing Taxes" you mentioned that Index funds are accumulated funds and that regarding taxes it falls under Lagerprincippet-which means you will be taxed annually based on your gains. In this video, it seems like you say index are under Realisationprincippet - so you pay tax only when you sell it, based on the gains. Could you please clarify that? Thank you!
@MarioScianHQ
@MarioScianHQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alina -- For index funds, it depends on whether they're paying dividends or not. If they pay dividends (like the Sparindex in this video) they pay Realisation, and if they don't pay dividends (e.g. iShares) they pay Lager.

@@elsasofiareis8985 You might want to check where the fund is domiciled. That is where fund's holding company is legally incorporated (typically where the funds is administrated and managed from) In the case of Sparindex, Saco, Danske Invest they are more likely than not Denmark since they serve primarily Danish investors. It's useful to know that all funds that are compliant with European law usually include UCITs in their name and they will have a KIID (Key Investor Information Document). You can check where the fund is domiciled there ; ). As Mario suggested, Google is your best friend. Happy investing.

Although I love Revolut, I do not use the app as a stock trading platform. Since I have a basic account, only one transaction is free. Of course using Revolut makes sense, if for some reason one has a premium account or only invests in one stock every month. Otherwise, I think Trading 212 is a much better platform for stock investment (zero brokerage fee). I would have personally preferred Saxo (primarily because I do not need to do my tax return) but if you are investing small amounts every month the brokerage fee quickly adds up.
@MarioScianHQ

You've a good point -- Revolut used to allow 3 investments (vs. 1) when I shot the video. They changed not long ago. The fees are still low, and if you consider the FX-angle is still a good deal in my opinion. I think Saxo's UI is horrible, hence I don't use it but the fees are competitive!

Do you have any thoughts on a low risk investment strategy that could outperform the mortgage type where you are only paying interest for first 10 years (as you recommend in your other videos?). In other countries I'd think a fixed income bond could be a safe choice, but not sure in the Danish context - do you have any thoughts on this? I'm a new investor and potential apartment buyer that is researching options. I've been offered by the bank afdragsfrit obligationslån at ÅOP 2,5 so I'm trying to find an investment strategy where it could be worth taking this. ps. love your content and videos! @@MarioScianHQ Thanks for this tip! Yes I'd love to see that video when you make it, I will keep an eye out for it. @@michellegordon6279 the best you can do is the 4 index funds approach. 1 index of a nation big companies, 1 (optional) of a specific sector of such country, 1 international index, and 1 national bond index. Bond tend outperform stock index funds when they have nagetive ratio. Hence, you just need to invest in them when they are "cheap", and rebalance after they come back in terms again. For this, always allocate a percentage equal to your age in bonds, and the rest to the stock's indexes. By doing this, you will outperform 75% of the finance bros in the medium run. I recommend the book "Millionaire Teacher" from Andrew Halland to further learn about this.
