I'm not sure if yall have picked up on this yet, but Yuta (full name: Yuta Nakamoto) is Japanese 😅. Up until NCT2020, he was the only Japanese member (and only Japanese artist in the whole company), but now Shotaro has joined NCT (and Giselle in aespa is also Japanese). Also, Jaehyun spent a couple years in the US when he was younger. That's why his english is so good.

For the members you're struggling with remembering; -Jaehyun definitely has the deepest voice in nct127, he's somewhat quiet and has very perfect looking eyebrows and a very traditionally handsome face. He looks pretty serious but has a very pretty smile. - Taeil is probably the shortest in nct127 but is the oldest member of all of nct. He has pretty noticeable round eyes and a more square shaped face. He's very sweet and gentle. - Yuta has pretty striking eyes and his resting face can look kinda scary or angry. He has very handsome Japanese ethnic features and looks like the main character in a j-drama. His smile is very noticeable and pretty and shows off his upper teeth. (He's actually REALLY REALLY funny without even trying- I wish the guide had mentioned it) - Jungwoo is actually the second tallest in nct127 and definitely on the taller side. Which contrasts his pretty soft sorta squishy facial features. He sorta resembles Taemin from Shinee, and has noticeable lips. ( I think those were they only ones you were struggling with so ill just put a few notes on the others) - Doyoung really closely resembles a bunny and has a round/oval eye shape. Honestly the other NCT members are always clowning him so he always looks like he's holding back tears, or smiling the pain away. He just looks clean and proper to me. - Johnny is the tallest nct127 member and one of the tallest members of nct overall. He has down turned, somewhat sleepy looking eyes. He also has a very distinct upturned lip shape. Also one of the more muscular members in NCT. - Taeyong has very noticeable and strong eyebrows. His whole face shape is just pretty sharp in general. He's pretty slender, which is probably because he's a dancer. When he's not performing, his eyes look really bright and shiny, which fans say look like boba. - Mark is pretty much average height when it comes to 127, but has a very boyish vibe. Big younger brother vibes. He has pretty noticeable cheekbones and round eyes. His face shape is pretty square. - Haechan has a pretty round face, with pretty round lips, nose and eyes.

Yuta is indeed the kind one, but he's more to that his personality is actually very interesting. He is effortlessly funny, like he doesn't have to talk much, but once he speaks he just makes everyone laugh. There may be moments where Yuta can be kinda savage too. Like how the members describe him, "Yuta may look tough on the outside, but if you get to know him he's actually very sweet." Aside from singing and dancing, he's also great with drawing and arts. He's also hugely influenced by Japanese-rock and you can see it so much especially in his recent styling, look, and overall vibe.

yuta auditioned as a vocalist but started out as a dancer and kinda rapper (firetruck) but now hes a dancer vocalist. he used to be a soccer player then joined sm with no formal training in anything. he said he used to practice in small rooms with mirrors and practice until the mirrors started fogging up from the hear of his exhaustion. i think yuta is a very charming performer and hes capable of so many things, he just suffers from lack of screen time LMFAO so like reactors generally skip over him cos they dont rly get to see more in the things they react to.

Yuta is called the kind one because he’s the one the members go to for encouragement. He’s also the one the members call the most manly and most new fans think Yuta is scary because he sometimes looks evil when he’s bored. I think looks like a manga character but I’m super bias. Yuta has a radio show for his Japanese fans. He speaks Japanese, Korean, English and Chinese. Yuta also prefers the outdoors, plays soccer like a pro and likes ballads and hard rock. Haechan loves Michael Jackson & Justin Bieber. He has a radio show and is a great MC. He’s a brat and a sore loser but he’s also clever, funny and has a heart of gold.

Almost all of them plays instruments, as most trainees are required to during their training period, most notable (they have content showing them playing the instruments) would be: Piano - Johnny, Jaehyun, Taeil, Mark, Haechan, Doyoung Guitar - Mark Sports: Soccer - Yuta, Jungwoo, the rest have pretty basic soccer skills. Basketball - Jaehyun, Mark, Haechan(unconfirmed, Shotaro said he was good) Bowling - Jaehyun, highest ever bowling score in ISAC.

About whether Korean is closer to Japanese or Chinese, I would say it draws from both. This is because Chinese characters (hanja) were used to write Korean until they developed their own 'alphabet' which is called Hangeul. Also, the Japanese occupied Korea for a bit during the 18th century so some words were adapted from the Japanese language as well. Therefore, I would say it draws from both as well as is its own individual language. Basically, they sound very different but if you pay attention. you might catch a few words here and there that sound Japanese or you might encounter words that are derivative from Chinese known as Sino-Korean. Of course, this is based on what I have studied and my opinion, I am open to any corrections or clarifications that you might have.

If I remember my linguistics classes accurately, Korean is considered the only language in its branch which is to say it doesn't have any closely related languages that still survive. Grammatically, the structure is more similar to Japanese. Mandarin and other Chinese languages are quite different in sound, structure and history. There are lots of borrowed words used in Korea from both Chinese and Japanese (and English these days of course). But in terms of a language tree, Korean is on its own branch, very unique :)

I've been waiting for your reactions to 127's latest come back fr 😌 But I guess it really is kind of a struggle to recognize a group with 23 members what makes it harder is that some of the clips used had members from other units too 😂 but I guess the only way to help you recognize them is just to watch more content that isn't related to their music! ☺️ Their skits, shows, random videos they post on youtube. This way you start recognizing them by voice both speaking and on track, or even by personality! :D It takes a while to point out each member. BUt I'm glad you guys are back for more nct!! 34:00 incase anyone wants to know lol- I'd say Korean is closer to Japanese, because grammar-wise Korean and Japanese are almost identical, but Korean and Chinese use very different grammar. One of the three Japanese alphabets is called Kanji, which is mostly similar to Hanzi (Chinese characters) So a lot of Japanese characters are derived from Chinese characters. There's also Hanja- which is the Korean name for a traditional writing system made of Chinese characters that was used as early as the Gojoseon period (first ever Korean kingdom.) But now Hanja hasn't been used in Korea for like 70-80 years. Other than Hanja, Korean writing isn't similar to Chinese. So basically Korean is more similar to Japanese grammar-wise, but has little relation to Chinese. Japanese and Chinese are pretty similar though. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about anything 😆

Korean , Chinese , and Japanese used to be similar a long , long , time ago, But Korean was later made into a different language itself by the King of Korea around year 1400. He sat down and wrote out Hangul himself and taught his people because he found Chinese language difficult. Hnagul then became the official Korean writing. Japanese and Chinese are pretty close to eachother though they have a hand full of similarities and japanese uses some chinese. I don't think korean is like any language. The only thing i think is similar between the three is Informal and Formal speaking. - From a Korean and Japanese speaker

There are words that have similar pronunciations to those of China and Japan. Because I've been using Chinese characters for a long time. We use Hangul not similar anything. 33:10 Korea has a long history of being occupied by both China and Japan, so their language has got a lot of similarities to both (though still completely independent). So, I would say their roots are more tied with Chinese and a lot of the words are based on the Chinese characters. But when Japan colonized Korea and Korea quickly modernized, they introduced a bunch of new words that have more worldly roots (basically Korean versions of Japanese versions of English words). Honestly, all of East Asia is pretty jumbled up, but their language definitely leans more towards Chinese just because of how Sino-centric it used to be.

I think Korean is closer to Japanese since neither are tonal languages the way Chinese is. In Japanese and Korean as long as you know the words and the basic grammar you make sense, with Chinese just the way you say the word and how the inflections fall completely change and distort the meaning. Korea has integrated a lot of Chinese words though, even their numbers. Korea uses 2 sets of numbers that are applied toward different things. There's native Korean numbers such as Hana Dul Set Net (1 2 3 4) which is used for counting specific things like people or bottles of Soju, or even intangibles like dreams and chances. On the other hand they also use sino-korean numbers (il i sam sa/1 2 3 4) based off Chinese numbers for money, ages, and most things which can add up quick.) So while Korean does borrow some vocabulary which creates occasional phonetic similarities to Chinese the basic tone and structure is much closer to Japanese from what I can tell.
