The music is very irritating to me. Why do you need it? Otherwise a good video

While this is a good video, I don't think it goes far enough. For example, all houses have insulation, but a passive home will have insulation that is 30 cm thick. This point alone makes passive houses stand out among others.

the thickness of the insulation is what defines a passive house? that's hardly a design feature.

stop before you watch lower the volume as far as you can or turn on closed captioning so the music doesn't give you headache

I am trying to develop a home from scartch, and would like to hire a consultant to help integrate such features during the early design itself. Can someone help me connect with an expert?

These are basic design principles that are over 3,000 years old. Check your architectural history - these are very old principles we need to use today.

Air tightness is a pulmonary health disaster! I suggest investigating air filters plus heat / humidity exchangers to permit free exchange between inner and outer air. And, yes, more solar heated thermal mass.

You need a dehumidifier to manage condensation. Humans make enormous amounts of humidity. Also most places that humans want to live routinely have outdoor humidity higher than the 50%RH that is the threshold for dust mites to breed. So indoor air or outdoor air is going to be a problem as soon as you put it in a structure with temperature differentials such as a shaded floor that is cooler than the air. The only way to fix it is a dehumidifier.

Consider limited or no windows by combining a monitor for camera output thus increasing thermal insulation and security (and cost).

do you want to save 50 bucks a month at the expense of living in a sterile, charmless shipping container? If so, passive homes are for you
@AB-yt4hd
@AB-yt4hd Ай бұрын
I have a nearly "passive" home since 10 years and it is not charmless or sterile, quite the opposite. Also, it is very confortable compared to my colleagues shit homes. It has huge triple glazed windows on the south which let enter the light during winter (and a big overhang to protect from the sun during summer), this is very nice. The walls are nearly 40cm thick, which reduce the noises from the outside.
