I lost my edges horribly from stress after my mom passed and a dermatologist told me it’s alopecia and that it came from the natural styling African American women do, it won’t grow back. My friend from D.R. Grandmother told me squeeze red onion, take the juice and message it into my edges, I messaging it in and then shampoo it out the next day. Also, to juice as many green vegetables and drink it every day. It took almost a year but my hairline returned thank God.

Hey Teresa! I would LOVE to create a video on onion juice and use your testimony as an example. Do you have any before / after pics? Can you PLEASE email to info@curlhouse.com I’ve been researching the benefits of onion juice for a while but i think becuase you got results from it, it would be more impactful. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

The good is correct. I'm on hair growth medication but I experienced a leap in hair growth around my edges in 2 weeks because of that basic massage tool u offer. My sense is that because of how i sleep and/or hold my head, my blood flow to scalp is choked off. The tool breaks that up. And sleep, exercise and hemp.

You are now the only "managing hair video" person I listen to. You have helped me learn what to do with my gray hair to keep it healthy. However, my issue is the fact that my hair will grow, everywhere except my temple area and front edges. I do not wear tight hairdo's, wigs, weaves, or pull on my hair in anyway. In fact I have always had issues with my hair in these areas. It's like my hair will only grow a couple of inches and break off. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Hi Karen. I am so glad that you made this video and I hope to GOD you see my comment lol I got into a very heated debate with a longterm friend of mine regarding putting oils on the scalp for hair growth, or maintaining hair thickness/health. Her stance is that from her “research” there are associated risk with leaving oils on the scalp and (not) rinsing them out after a particular time frame such as a hr or so. She says that our scalp “naturally” produces an oil called sebum, and that it is unnecessary leaving oils on the scalp or even applying them at all because the hair is going to grow regardless because of sebum. She says that hair growth is largely due to a proper wash day procedure 1x per week that includes deep conditioning which she states is a major contributor to hair growth, not so much oils. Me on the other hand I disagree. I have been faithfully deep conditioning and oiling my hair FAITHFULLY with 100% pure castor oil since 2015. I oil my scalp in-between wash days 2-3 times per week. I have NEVER experienced scalp issues leaving oils in. My hair has been full, thick, and strong all these years. Did I ever have major scalp issues when I started? No. But as a man because I was told “baldness” runs in the family, I wanted to start treating my hair and scalp as soon as possible in case I might experience hair loss. I would like to know from you is she correct? Are leaving oils on the scalp unnecessary and don’t cause hair growth? Mind you, she has stated that black women have the leading causes of hair loss. And practices like these are probably why because we don’t know how the scalp works and applying things on them actually harms it. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you for this video... I have been noticing a lot of hair fall and I do see thinning in general. The hairline is not super bad, but noticable. I honestly do not know how to wear my hair well... If it's natural I have it in twists from WASH DAY and I'm wearing a scarf. S o, I have been pressing my hair out since the end of summer. And I don't press my hair every week or in between. My mom used to press our hair all the time when I was young, and it was never an issue, like heat damage. When I went natural, that's when I started having more issues🤷🏿‍♀️ I am going to make an appointment to see a dermatologist. And I stopped over doing it with a lot of products... I used to get my hair braided so tightly years ago and it wasn't good - I haven't let anybody braid my hair in years because of the abusive hair braiding! Thank you.

Hi Karen. This video was so informative. I was wondering can the hairline also break off a little due to years of relaxers?
@KarenofCurlHouse
@KarenofCurlHouse 8 ай бұрын
ABSOLUTELY! Overprocessing of relaxers can certainly causing the hairline to thin as it is the weakest part of your hair anyway.

Thank you for this information. I had a biopsy done, and the result was I have Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia 😢. I was given a treatment plan. I take Doxycycline twice a day. I also put Clobetasol Propionate on my scalp twice a day. I have to do this for 3 months. The dermatologist didn't promise me my hair would grow back, but I am hopeful the larger spots will get some hair growth. This was my fourth dermatologist. I have been trying to get some real answers to my scalp issues for 7 years. Now I know it is inflammation of the scalp. I would like a suggestion on how many times you think I should wash my hair during my treatment per week?
@KarenofCurlHouse
@KarenofCurlHouse 8 ай бұрын
Hi Lois! I'm sorry to hear about your FFA, BUT I'm glad you got a diagnosis all at the same time. Treatment plan sounds good. I've had a few clients with FFA that I've treated along side the dermatologist plan so I recommend you shampoo your hair 2x per week (for 8 weeks) then scale back to weekly. I"m not sure what type of shampoo you are using but something designed for the scalp to help with inflammation reduction is ideal. You can also incorporate some of the suggestions in this video as well, but continue to stick to your dermatologist plan as well. Scarring takes place over time, so you want to save the hair follicles that are not scarred as much as possible. #stayencouraged #beconsistent

What type of alopecia does Jada Pinkett Smith have?😉🧐🤔 What causes scalp pimples in menopausal/postmenopausal women?
@KarenofCurlHouse
@KarenofCurlHouse 8 ай бұрын
Hey there! I believe Jada has Alopecia Areata. This too is autoimmune where the body or immune system attacks the follicles. Scalp pimples in menopausal women are primarily brought on by changes in hormones or imbalances in hormones causing fluctuations in sebum secretion. So it's kinda like when you are going through puberty and the hormones change and some may be acne on the face -- hormonal changes.
