i think you meant 2-3 good ugga duggas instead of 12-16ft/lb but it’s okay!

Yes, very helpful vid! PROTIP for Miata Community: After installation of parts and doing the BLEED job...if you have trouble with getting all air bubbles out of line after numerous repeated attempts -- try removing the Bleed Screw and applying a couple of layers of Teflon Plumbers Tape (don't cover bleed hole, though) on threads. After a lot of frustration, this finally eliminated air leaking back into the Slave cylinder (despite the Bleed Screw being fully tightened), facilitating a vacuum for the air bubble-free flow of brake fluid and completion of the Bleeding. Hope this helps others facing this predicament !!

wrap the tape around the bleeder screw and screw it back in? i kinda got the system bled and took it for a drive car was good for 10 minutes and then the fluid got hot/ or an air bubble is in the system which led to the clutch not engaging. i replaced both master and slave

Great video man just bought a low miles NB and two days after driving it home the shifting got more and more crunchy, reverse was basically impossible to get into sometimes. Seems like the slave cylinder died, weirdly there didn’t seem to be any external leaks, I can only imagine there was an internal leak past one of the plungers on either cylinder. Great video man super helpful.

The braided hoses can be a little fragile; I recommend taking a section of vinyl or rubber tubing (ID matching braided hose OD), slitting down its length and zip tying it around the hose. That way, if the hose rubs against anything it'll have to wear through the tubing first.

I'm going to be doing this repair in a few days. I was thinking, couldn't you attach the slave to the new line prior to attaching to the tranny and just drop it down through the engine bay to its final location? That way you can make the hydraulic connections before crawling under the car.

Did this repair...took about 3 hours. I couldnt get my wheel off though and had to work around it which sucked. The bolts that hold on the slave are quite difficult to get to. Weird angles and very close to the frame.

I have a 2002 NB. Got caught in hour long traffic jam, had to use clutch a lot. I noticed free play of clutch pedal suddenly increased, but didn't affect operation. Once I got out of traffic, the pedal tightened back up. Could this be master cylinder issue?
@trevorwilson27442 жыл бұрын
I had a similar thing happen to me. After getting out of traffic my engine light came on and if I put the car in neutral and let off the clutch it made some small rattling noises. You ever found out your issue?
@2002MX52 жыл бұрын
@@trevorwilson2744 Mine was clutch master cylinder. Yours may be worn clutch. Dunno for sure.

Did you have to replace the plunger on the Master Cylinder or are they uniform from one manufacturer to another?
@speedygarage264 Жыл бұрын

If the brake fluid doesn't go down, does that mean you don't have to replace the clutch cylinders?
@rafaelmontoya1454 Жыл бұрын
Do you need the bleeder system or can you just let it squirt out into a rag or something
@speedygarage264 Жыл бұрын
I just use a little catch can. A bleeder system allows you to do it solo, but if you have someone to help you press the clutch, you can just use a rag or old water bottle!

Great video, much appreciated. Question: Is the new stainless clutch line you installed considered the extended length or the normal length? Thanks
@speedygarage2643 жыл бұрын
Hi! It is the extended length one to account for replacing the "pigtail."

Hi, just got my miata and am having this problem is it because something I did that causes this or overtime? Just bought the car at 165k miles and am new to driving manual.
@speedygarage264 Жыл бұрын
Just over time unless you cooked the clutch while learning. But if you just got the car, it's probably something that the previous owner neglected.

Check that it isn't cross threaded. You may need to purchase a new line if the old one is gunked up.

thanks, my nb's clutch pedal has become softer and shifting has become hard (almost impossible at times). Is this a master/slave cylinder issue or a worn out clutch?
