Loved my FE and FM cameras. When I started the studio used a colossal Nikon F, like a main battle tank, the motor drive had a separate battery pack you wore over you shoulder.

*Re: 9:50 , There Are faster Ai/Ai-S lenses from that era (f/1.4, f/1.2) *you can also use Bulb (B) mode without battery power if you want to go longer exposure. I attach a cable shutter release for that or use. *My advice is to service your camera every 5000 miles. I did not one time and took one of my FEs to French Polynesia and it started slipping on the film advance due to the high humidity of the islands so it dried out what ever lube I had left in it. ~ I have been shooting the FE since 1979, gone thru four bodies - still have three but only one of those is in pristine working condition. In my shooting prime during the 80s as a news and sports photojournalist I always had two on my shoulder with different primes both with the MD-12 motor drive. They were real workhorses compared to my F2 Photomic S which I had sent the meter prism in twice to Nikon for repairs. The FE was always there to bail me out of situations.

Loved my Fe cameras back in the day. But both ended life the same way with stuck shutters. Bought a F3HP and have been very happily shooting it for the last 10 years.

Yeah we’ve had a few stuck shutters, and that’s just over the last 18 months. Thanks for watching!

@@TheFullFrame35mm Which version of the shutter self destructed? I have the FE2 with the titanium shutter. Still working today, no problems. Even used a motor drive with it a lot when shooting.

I bought both my Nikon F2A and FE2 new when stationed in Japan. Both are still working perfectly. The question about the FE and FE2 has some to do with the different shutters. Mine has the titanium shutter with the honeycomb dents in the blades. To date, it has not failed. Still works. Don't use it much as film is way too expensive and processing by the lab is worse than me doing it in a photo lab environment. The F2 has a horizontal shutter with the FE having the vertical shutter with blades. Which version of the FE blades failed frequently? I still love those cameras, simple, rugged.
