Bro this is so helpful. I swear I was going mad looking for the animal noises. I would go to the where the noise was expecting to see an animal just to hear that same noise back from where I just ran from thinking wait there are two animals? I was in kind of a open field and looked everywhere and seen nothing just confused lmao. Thank you.

I dislike that hunting mini-game mostly because it takes you out of the world. It feels super "gamey" that you have to follow the clues to even spawn an animal, rather than having game spawn it and then follow the sounds. There are no accidental animal encounters and stuff alike. Seems super artificial.

The foot prints clue, they will point towards the direction where the animals has moved, very helpful for those with med survival a lower That is a very “realistic” detail the dev have included, making it more immersive. And great vid, helped me understand more on the hunting mechanics.

A little tip about using the focus mode, if you hold down your right mouse button and then tap and release the shift and RMB you will stay in focus mode. It takes a bit of trail and error to get the timing down, but it will help you when you are moving around. Good luck.

Scum before 0.85: same as in real life Scum after 0.85: totally unrealistic hunting mechanic and once more a waist of time and resources that could go towards something that actually benefits the game. How can they still wonder why people are questioning their decisions? Its takes time to find a clue or animal. Just be patient. You cant rush it

i don't know how true this is but it seems that i get more meat if i use an axe instead of any knife(even cleaver)

I just checked this, with torso, 1h metal axe, 2h metal axe and meat cleaver, all gave the same amount of meat, fat and bones. Except the 2h Axe only gave 1 bone, the others gave two.
