I’ve got an 1999 Honda CR-V that’s non road worthy because of panel and window damage. I’m trying to fix it on a budget and I’ve figured I’m going to lift it first and then do panel repairs and replace widows. Thanks man I love your work and u have inspired me

Thank you sir! That was a lot of extremely helpful info. I will be buying a first gen off my daughter. My oldest son and I convinced her to buy it, but got fed up with the whining and complaining about having to fix a few things on it. Even though my son and his friend did a bunch of stuff for free. She doesn’t seem to understand the value of it and the fact that it’s over 20 years old and there will need to be some further investment. So I just told her I would buy it from her no problem! So I will be making a plan on what to do with it. Hoping to avoid some of the mistakes my son made with his and gleaning the wisdom from gentleman like yourself. Thanks again

I appreciate it brother thank you I'll find out Tuesday after doing a nuclear stress test. On the axles I have heard some people buy new being okay and some not so good but as far as the remanufactured I have heard all is good I actually only had one bad set and they replace them right away and I was good to go so I just generally stick with recommending nose but it's good to hear you had success with them.

We really need more torque and a shorter first. I'm thinking a k24 with custom 1-2 gear set, plate lsd, and a pinned rear end would make the crv more capable than a wrangler.

Inch and a half to 2-inch otherwise you're going to start seeing axle bind issues even the 2in make it kind of tough.

@crv_tom
@crv_tom 3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks man! You will be good with the Old Man Emu springs I used to have that set up on my 2000 CRV they are great what you want to do is get an inch and a half rear trailing arm spacers from HRG and of course update all of your stock suspension parts you would be good with those but to make it even better and smoother I would suggest Truhart lifted front control arm/camber kit and rear camber kit and then it would be a pretty solid set up for what you to do.

Thanks for the video @CRV_TOM . I just subscribed! I'm doing a .25" HRG shim spacer lift in the front plus .25" HRG lift shim in the rear. On top of those spacers, I'm installing .78" OME lift spring in the rear. The total effective lift is said to be about .5" in the front and 1.03" in the rear. Pretty modest. I am also replacing the front springs with genuine Honda springs. I am hoping that my lift is modest enough not to require extensive modifications to camber arm, trailing arm, sub-frame etc. What's your opinion? It's a daily driver with 158,000 miles, rebuilt transmission, and excellent condition motor. I don't want to ruin it!
@crv_tom
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
You should be completely fine with that setup no big issue should come of that just make sure you get a good alignment afterwards.
@brianmccleerey9798

@@crv_tom You're a legend thanks. I recently swapped some parts around. I'm now installing OME 2797 and 2798 lift springs front and rear. I'm wondering if I should add an additional .25" or .5" lift on the rear to balance it out. I don't want to lift it too much and invite a bunch of issues. Should I just do the springs or put the shims on too? This is a daily driver. Thanks! I commented the same question elsewhere on your vids.

When running OME springs.... do you not need trailing arm spacers, adjustable front upper ball joints, and/or adjustable rear upper control arms?
@crv_tom
@crv_tom 2 жыл бұрын
No but I would highly recommend it it makes everything a lot more adjustable and your alignment will be much more manageable.

Does lifting a CRV actually make it off-road capable at all? I love my V and would like to be able to take logging roads and mountain trails. I think without a locking differential or low gear it wouldn’t cut it.
@crv_tom
@crv_tom 2 жыл бұрын
You would be extremely surprised at what these little CRVs could do especially with mods the right way. That being said they are not a Toyota 4 runner or a Jeep unless you were willing to go to extreme modification with them but they will surprise you and there's not much for trailing that they can't handle other than extreme trailing trailing that is pretty much meant to push any vehicle to its max.

As long as you have good axles that are in decent shape you should not have have an issue with that size lift with your axles but also make sure your torque mounts are in good shape and not bad and engine mounts.

Hey, Good Morning. I really hope that your heart is doing better by now 🙏. I have a question, I have been reading and seeing aLot of different KZbin videos on lifting a CRV. I just bout a 99 with 132,000 miles. I bought it to make it my daily, I have a half hour commute to work every morning but I am very interested in lifting it, getting a whole suspension system. My mechanic said he can and will put everything for me in just have to buy all the parts witch I am willing to do ASAP lol. Can you please recommend any Kits I might be able to buy as far as wheels, tires and again the whole suspension kit, struts, the whole 9 lol... Only looking to Lift 2 till 3 inches. Have to make it as safe as possible because I have 2 kids I drive with at times. Please and Thank you in advance, I hope this message gets you. 🙏
