Iced Milo is soooo popular in Thailand. We sell it on the street. It is Milo mixed with milk and condensed milk. You can make it at home. But with the whisker or shaker it becomes MORE DELICIOUS!😁🥰

Cendol is meant for be taken on hot days. Can add durian. Pulut (glutinous rice) and red beans. The saltiness in Cendol is the santan (please forgive I can't recall the English term) from the coconut. Culturally satay belongs to Malaysia and Indonesia.

We love this beautiful family! They have given us so much joy during this otherwise a challenging season with a toddler. In fact, they have inspired us to stay with airbnb properties more as we are traveling again as a family! #airbnb Please continue to support them another year!!! Our family would be extremely sad to see them return to TN. They have so much to offer - intercultural sensitivity, respect toward host cultures, humility to learn from the locals, down to earth, and super fun! Thank you Steph, Pete, and Hays 😇

Kuay Teow the name itself is originally Chinese and not Malay. If you go Penang then try Char Kuay Teow (dry and spicy and not saucy) there. Because Malaysia mixed cultural food influence and the Kuay Teow is cooked by difference races in different styles. Some stalls if go to where the cook is Malay then you will see Kuay Teow goreng basah (a bit wet and saucy). Please try the food in Penang especially the Penang Assam (Tamarrind) Laksa and you will taste the difference. Anyway there is bunch of different variety of Laksa in Malaysia from different states across the country.

@@StephandPete char itself is a chinese word for fry/fried. kuay tiow is a flattend rice noodle. But in malays terms/slang, char kuay tiow carries a spesific name for fried kuay tiow fried in specific way with flooded gravy, filled with prawn and/or cockles meat eggs bean sprout and chives, with neither chicken nor beef in it. On the other hand, chinese char kuay tiow is just a normal fried kuay tiow with chicken, beef or pork etc, fried dry. In malays term if u want a dry fried kuay tiow just order kuay tiow goreng though the word kuey tiow goreng and char kuey tiow carry the same meaning a fried kuay tiow., Sounds a bit funny and interesting yet that's malaysia haaaahaa

Another great video c: Food really is one of the keys to my heart, so its amazing I still haven't really gotten round to making a proper food video. But I think the mango shake would excite me most. I don't really like tea and coffee (which is what everyone drinks in Korea) so milkshakes are always super exciting for me. It's just a shame milk based products are so expensive here.

Finally saw you trying durians but the durians that you tried are called kampung/village durians which are not the best. Durians will only avaialbe in wihter (Nov/Dec) and summer (May-July) and the best way to try to going to a store selling ony durians where you will try many variety of durians. The best one will be musang king which is very creamy.

I cooked laksa Sarawak last, first time cooking n eating this dish. Delicious, and I am sure commercial laksa Sarawak served in restaurants/food stalls taste whole lot better especially in Sarawak. It's called laksa but the noodle actually is rice vermicelli. I am Malaysian residing in Seri Kembangan, Selangor

Fruit fermentation produce natural alcohol include Tuak or Todi, no difference with how wine is produce from grapes. Yeast/ Starter through fermentation which infact produce lactic acid and acetate for bread dough. Penang Char Kuey Teow consist of slices of Chinese sausage, Chives, egg, garlic, dark caramel soy sauce, light soy sauce, fried pork lard bits and shrimps with or without chilli. Usually Penang Chinese Char Kuey Teow is lighter in dark soy sauce compared to other Char kuey teow in Klang valley. Nasi Kerabu has huge selections of meats, chicken, small mackerel, many type of fish, beef and mutton. This tour guide did not recommend to you some of the best eateries here though, sorry. Malaysia delicious multi racial food also depend on your tour guides taste buds and which stalls or restaurants and locations they take you to try out Malaysian multi ethnic cultural food.

12:34 Having lived in the UK for 7 years in the early 2000s, I can't say I am a big fan of the Brits. However, there is no denying that the British were better colony masters than other European powers that had colonized South East Asia. Two of the most developed countries in SEA are Singapore and Malaysia (as of 2022), both are ex-British colonies. At least the Brits did help in developing the countries they colonized. The Dutch, French, and Spaniards left Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines respectively in shambles.

This is because people eat it with durian or it is in season together with the durian. Durian is a heaty fruit whereas mangosteen is a cooling fruit, they counter each other.
