I had an RX4 back in the 70s. Monster port 13B. 20B wasn't an option back then. I bought the motor from Wayne Dyson himself. Pulled 12 seconds over the quarter. It was bright blue, (genuine Mazda color). I got some good results in car shows. Loads of looks driving it around back then. Loved it. At the time, it freaked a lot of people out.

That is a beautiful car. You sure put a lot of love, time, effort, and $ into it. I had a 74 (had the ugly rubber bumper uprights) back in the early 90's. Wish I never got rid of it. I worked at a rotary specialist shop in the Seattle area. It had a nice street port 13B with racing beat headers and full exhaust. Holley 450. Rx7 GSL rear end (lsd and rear discs). The early rx7 waffle wheels with a set T/A radial's with the white letters out (think about the time frame). It was fast (at the time) I remember racing a brand new 93 Mustang gt and it was no challenge, so it was a low to mid 14-second car.... that was a fast street car in 1993. So glad you shared this video.

Back in the 70s I had two RX3s and I still say they were the most exciting affordable road cars at the time, o.k. the power or performance isn't anywhere near what you can get today but back then they were the business. I've also had two Suzuki RE5s, an 'M' model and an 'A' model not too long ago and they were 100% reliable, the RX3s not quite so.

3:11 My first car was a 1974 Mazda RX-4 Coupe with the 13B (the only engine the Rx-4 came with in The States) exactly like this bloke has. That was in 1978. The RX-4 had by far the most stylish (modern, 'swoopy') interior of any Mazda's in the 1970s (R100s, Rx-3s, Rx-2s, RX-5 Cosmos) and in my opinion the best exterior styling as well, but just the Coupe... not the Sedan & Wagon. I had a couple of RX-2 Coupes later on but the 12A never had the torque of the 13B. I love the full-leather treatment he had done on this car's interior.
