That is because the build up to most of the boy's propsal scenes are hilarious. The confession scene in most of the rom com animes are plotted to look funny rather than depressing in boy's case. If the build up to the confession was made more serious, detailed and dramatic then i m sure that woud make us feel pity towards the mc. Your mind can be changed if there is any anime where these elements are used. And where the mc gets rejected by a girl having a huge connetion to the overall plot.

In the case of Koe no Katachi or A Silent Voice, it just was a misunderstanding from Shoko having a hard time speaking due to being deaf, and Shoya misunderstanding "love" or "suki" for "moon" or "tsuki". As someone who had been friendzoned only once... I got to say... Fortunately... it wasn't that bad of a experience... I could feel the love and care she had for me and the real pain she had to go through because she knew it was going to hurt me.... Of course I cried... Not in front of her tho... In my case, the one that stands out the most was back in the first grade when I had a vivid and realistic ass dream about my crush back then kissing my cheek and my hand, telling me she likes me and has a crush on me. What I didn't know until very much later, was how all of that was fake and a dream by me telling people DURING A CLASS FIELD TRIP that she liked me, only to have her tell the truth and reject me in front of everyone. What broke me the most wasn't the rejection, no it was the awkward and HEARTBREAKING bus ride back home in which I could feel my will to live AND my heart slowly shatter and break into a million pieces. It was so heartbreaking that I basically lost all touch with reality and went into autopilot for the next 3 years until the 4th grade when my mom was pregnant with her 3rd child, not to mention now I'm unable to tell whether or not I'm actually dreaming or it's real life...

Heck even before I was born I had a 50/50 percent chance of actually making at the hospital before my mom gave birth to me in a taxi, not to mention there wasn't even any doctors in the hospital to help give birth AND THEN there was the possibility that I was dead when I was born because I didn't cry out or even breathe for a good while after I was born... yeah my life has been one big long trip of " Why even bother?"

One thing I've learned from watching anime and studying real life is that rejections hurt for both genders. If a girl gets rejected it's hard for her because normally it would be the boy to confess so when you they do it it hurts because of the amount of confidence it takes. When a boy is rejected it hurts because of 2 reasons, 1. It takes confidence to confess to someone, 2. We can't shoe out emotions that much (not that we don't or we shouldn't but we usually hide our emotions) the only time we show our emotions is with close friends or true homies and even then we have problems with it. In both gender scenarios it will have an impact on how we view the other gender. For men it will be us having self-confidence issues and not wanting to isolate ourselves. For women (I can't say for certain) I feel like it would be the same case. Either way getting rejected sucks, it takes a strong person to be able to overcome a rejection and the pain that follows it. Talk to some close friends because honestly I can't say anything to my family without getting made fun of. If anything I said was wrong please talk to me about because I want to study stuff like this. Thank you and have a good day.
