Good review! Enjoyed it thoroughly. I've been riding my 2016 C650 Sport (even cooler looking I think) all around Los Angeles for the past 5 years including for commuting and it's not only a perfect way to get around all the traffic jams but also a lot of fun. I get 47 MPG in the city which is pretty good. Do my own maintenance which so far with 8,000 miles has cost me only oil and filters, one new set of tires (Shinko, $200 for the set) and brake pads and fluid. All in all less than $100 a year. Yes it's the perfect commuter bike,

I had one for 9 years - a great bike for commuting, but also for medium distance & touring. I agree with your pros and cons - for me, apart from the high price, the main negative was the mirrors. They do vibrate, but the positioning of them is absolutely terrible, in my opinion - although the view of my elbows was great, it was difficult to clearly see traffic behind. The positioning of the mirrors on the T-Max is far superior.

Nice review…too bad BMW stopped making them last year as far as I know. But the bright side is: the 350GT is as good and perfect for city riding….same great handling, same comfort, and by far enough power for city riding….storage is very small compared to the Japanese competition- but would not change it….and the downside as for the 650GT: price. I do live in Thailand where the 350cc likes of Yamaha and Honda cost around 200k THB- the BMW cost a whopping 430k…more than double….in the end comparing both the 650GT and the 400GT, the 350cc single is more than enough for city riding….and one of the BMW perks: I do ride a very standard one and are often challenged by Forza’s and Nmax’s to go for a quick drag race- and the BMW always wins…..the speed take up and the acceleration in the range between stop and 80km/h is simply top notch compared to many other bikes…who I cares about the 138-140km/h top speed….in a city not necessary. I also used it for touring and I hate to say it: it’s the most comfortable ride I have among my other big bikes…..

Is your wife in the station wagon ahead of you? (Just guessing) most of the C650 GT’s here in the states don’t get used much they are a few years old and still have only demo mileage on them I haven’t seen one with over 20,000 miles yet except for mine pushing 60,000 miles.

Ik vind de prestaties snel merkbaar slechter worden naar mate de riem slijt. 40+ kW went erg snel en is snel saai. Voordeel is dat de CVT zo is ontworpen dat je boven de 100km/u ook nog erg vlot snelheid kan meerderen. Hij is leuk voor de hobby maar te duur voor het woon-werk. Als je alle nodige beurtjes laat uitvoeren bij een BMWdealer dan is de kilometerprijs gewoon te hoog. Op ten duur ben je aan de beurt voor kleppen stellen en een nieuwe riem - erg prijzig voor wat uit eindelijk maar een 650cc motor is.

Gewoon alles zelf doen, is goed te doen met een shop manual op DVD van BMW. Dan kost het erg weinig, ik doe die van mij al 5 jaar zelf, en alleen olie, filters, remblokken etc

Hij is met zijn 250 kg zwaarder dan de meeste motoren. 180 ermee gereden, geen trilling, niks :)

I had a couple of guys try to give me a hard time for riding a moped… so I followed their big red Peterbuilts on to the interstate and passed the first one and waved passed the second and waved then took the exit and left. A few days later I saw them again and told them I passed a couple of those Kaufman trucks the other day, they replied not in no Azurite truck nope I was on my “moped”. You know I never heard anything more about me riding a moped from them their trucks were governed at 87 mph.
