one of the best riders I've seen riding the very technical Vancouver BC north shore trails is Dangerous Dave. A guy with a trials background!

Your channel is INCREDIBLE! Thanks a lot of all your efforts. Just the little tip with the bash guard was awesome. I'll buy one next week. :)

Thanks so much, glad to hear that the videos have been useful! I'm using a One-Up Components bashring now, it attaches to those ISCG mounts on your bottom bracket. Great option!

You already know I spend way more time on my street trials bike than my mountain bike, even though I got the trials bike to build skills for mountain biking... But lately have been thinking I need a bash ring for the mountain bike, and found the wolf tooth bash spider like a month ago but have been on the fence. I think this may have just pushed me over the line, I'll use the mtb way more if I'm not worried about trashing it. It's very obvious that the most damaged piece of gear on my trials bike is the bashring!!! Also, this video makes me feel extremely validated on the 'learn some trials techniques to be better at mtb' which actually really just resulted in me taking up trials AND mtb...

That bashring is the key - I’ve tried a couple and that one was the best (and it also worked with multiple drivetrains, depending on what everyone is riding). I made this video after our chat earlier in the week when we were talking about exactly this! It’s easy to see why riders would be overwhelmed and not even try to learn trials - but I’m sure you know how even some of the basics movements transfer over and make a huge impact. 👊

@@SuperRiderTV awesome, yes definitely understand the skills transfer there. Even the little bit of practice I'd done between getting the trials bike and the MTB helped immediately.

I went to order the bash spider and chain ring today, but before I did spoke to a mate of mine and he said "just give it a crack and see how it holds up, order the bash spider if you do manage to damage your current ring" which is actually a really good idea, sure I might have to walk out off the trails and have my mtb out of action for a little while if I manage to bend the current chainring, but if I never manage to bust the existing one then that will just be a win. I'm sure it won't seem like such a great idea once the chainring bends and I'm walking out off the trails, but for now, I'm just going to start doing more trials stuff on the mtb as well (not 750mm bunnyhops up a concrete ledge yet, we'll work up to that...)

Right on! The bashring is more insurance than a functional part to land on - I try not to hit it, but if that was the only thing holding anyone back...might as well toss it out there! Let me know how it goes!!
@Teracis

@@SuperRiderTV Will do, definitely was what was holding me back from using the mtb for anything more trials like or at the skatepark, because I'm expecting that one decent hit and it will bend, I've got the confidence to try it now though!

These bashrings are a solid option for those bikes which don't come along with direct frame mounts for bashguards. I use both types on different bikes and there are as goog as any..
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV 3 жыл бұрын
For sure! I’d be pumped on the direct mount ones, too - both great options!

Hi Aaron! Thanks for all the great trials coaching tips! When practicing on the full suspension bike should I lock it out?
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I would start with everything locked out, and as you get more comfortable, you could start to open it back up. Best to have the basics in place, then add the suspension back in so you know what it feels like in either scenario.

Thanks for all the great content! I've been mountain biking for quite some time and I'm all in on learning trials techniques to apply on the trail. One of my favorite aspects of mountain biking is sessioning and being playful with natural features. Is it worth picking up a trials bike to learn and master the basics, or should I stick to to learning them directly on my MTB?
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! If your intention is to apply everything to MTB, it’s probably best to stick with learning it all on that bike. However, a trials specific bike can help you learn the techniques faster…and plus, you never have enough bikes…right? :)

@@SuperRiderTV Exactly! I found a used 2014 Inspired Element that I can pick up locally for $500. Seems to be in very good shape. It does have the v-brakes in the rear instead of discs. Would you recommend this purchase for my purposes?
