Where did the Warp node come from at 15.44? Did I miss something in the video?
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 4 жыл бұрын
Ha, good eye! It was either an editing error or I felt it wasn't critical I showcase it when I did it off-camera. Essentially the Warp node is using a Gaussian Noise input (or similar node) to warp the tire treads and provide them with some large-scale waviness. :)
@Mahaweilo
@Mahaweilo 5 жыл бұрын
Really awesome tutorial man! I've a question though why do you mirror the corners for the tire tracks? If I just mirror along the Y axis you get one continues tire track withough the weird bumb in the middle. Also I added a bevel after my edge detect so I can a bit of a smoother falloff for the tire tracks (they were really jaggy for me) Overall it is one of the best tutorials I've seen so far for Substance Designer. You actually explain the reasoning behind what nodes you use and what they actually do :D

I had some trouble rendering the flood fill node. Nothing works after this for some reason :( Do you know what the problem may be? I'm using substance designer 2018.2.0 Great videos! Very freaking helpful! Thankyou!
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 6 жыл бұрын
When using the flood fill, did you make sure to use a secondary flood fill node, such as the flood fill to gradient? The initial flood fill node is used to initialize the flood fill process, but it can't actually be used by anything that isn't a flood fill accepted node. If you add a flood fill to gradient node after the flood fill node, you will then be able to use any node after that. :) I hope this helps, sorry it's kinda long! And thank you! Always feel free to ask if you have questions or suggest materials that you'd wanna see. Looking forward to hearing from you in future tutorials! :D

I dont have the mirror node, instead I have the symmetrty one, but when I use it, the lines are red taht if something is missing. Is there another node to use appart or do you recommend finding it in the forums and add it myself?
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 5 жыл бұрын
Interesting, what version of Designer do you have currently? The red line would likely indicate that you are trying to plug Greyscale nodes into Colour nodes or vice versa.
@calzimer
@calzimer 5 жыл бұрын
I do have the 2018.3.3 version
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 5 жыл бұрын
@@calzimer Doubly interesting. The symmetry node is a colour node, so thats the issie with plugging in a greyscale node to it. Im curious as to why you dont have the Mirror node, however. That might require a reinstall, honestly.
@calzimer
@calzimer 5 жыл бұрын
it didnt work reinstalling the programm so I might add the node manually with a plugin or something, I think thats the best idea I come up
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 5 жыл бұрын
@@calzimer That's very weird. Sorry that didn't work for you. I'm sure there will be a node online somewhere or even can make one yourself! Certainly a great learning method.

Hey that was Awesome! I just have a doubt, Can we now use that like a brush in Unreal Engine 4 and just paint it anywhere we want? Anyways Thanks!
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 5 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! Unfortunately I'm not too well-versed in UE4. That being said, you'd likely be able to use the maps from the material you created and paint them in using vertex painting, just like you would any other material. :)
@jakobmemborg7963
@jakobmemborg7963 5 жыл бұрын
I've used UE4 a bit, and yes, it supports material painting, delivering much prettier results compared to Unity, unless you buy a plugin for material terrain painting or a custom terrain plugin

Yes, you could paint it. But remember that it'll only go in a straight line as per the texure. To get tire tracks that will follow a curve you'll have to use some sort of spline option and decals/repeating geometry to make it appear cut into the ground.

My edge detect node doesn't make that type of geometry. It seems that it doesn't detect correctly the information of the safe transform's node
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 6 жыл бұрын
Are you getting any geometry at all, or is the texture entirely black?
@eraseme3089
@eraseme3089 6 жыл бұрын
Entire black but lifting up the tolerance the weird geometry appears
@eraseme3089
@eraseme3089 6 жыл бұрын
Solution: Don't work with less resolution than 2k because the edge detect in this case can't extract enough information from a low resolution texture
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 6 жыл бұрын
That'd do it! In smaller resolution, it can't really handle too dense textures. You're on a roll today, don't even need me! :D

Small comment... May wanted to distinguish when similar name nodes act in different color spaces. i.e. safe transform vs. safe transform greyscale; Saves on "red line" headaches and colorspace conversions seem to be a core mechanic in designer. Great content, looking forward to more. P.S. Seems like edge Detect has some kind of bug that still has not been solved... can get a tile generator to work, but the current node setup is not working. Would have love to have finished the setup.

What seems to be the problem with it?
@_its.just.regi_

It stays completely white and does not work with any inputs; I feel this is related to Designer and sometimes not updating properly as It worked fine on my laptop and after uninstalling and reinstalling Designer. If you look at their support forum, you will find similar posts pointing out that some nodes fail randomly
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 6 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I am going to keep a lookout for that in the future. I have noticed a few times that some nodes wouldn't work as intended, but it was always fixed with a quick "close and reopen", so I never investigated further. Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the suggestion, I'm going to start looking into modifying my personal workflow!
@MoonManPictures

In all honesty, you could still implement it in your tutorials, it displays the node name and therefore people who do not want to invest in it can just hit space :P (I am not affiliated to the designers btw. ). You could also reach out to the creators and make and affiliate link with them. It's honestly good and simple to use so it wouldn't be a shameless plug. Just an idea there for you. But I get what you mean 100%.
