A bit off topic. I watched your hand line video. Got enough information to cobble together a hand line. Two hours -- caught a 2kg (5 lbs ) tuna. (Wrote about it in the comments of that video, but you probably don't check those comments.) You're the best Ben. Sure, beginner's luck, and I had the basic components, but I had no clue about how to set up and deploy a hand line until I watched your video. (I'd bought all the gear from Chinese speakers in Taiwan.) Guess I'd better become a Patreon. Count on it. You've certainly earned it.

Wow...beautiful landscape. So similar to Mars. It's so cool what you both have accomplished with your beautiful family and how far you all have come. Ashley makes me crack up when she said, "is that what happened?"...not understanding a word what the gentleman said. 😂😅😂😅 It's so true how certain foreign words may have a similar sound to what we understand. Take this for example...the word "faca" is Portuguese for "KNIFE". Thank you Ben & Ashley for bringing us along in your journey.

So great to see. That part of South Africa is so beautiful. Back in the mid 90's when my family lived there, we went white water river rafting down the Orange River for 7 days. Such a great memory, sadly I was young so I don't remember too much of it.

There used to be a time when one could not take a car out of the Orange river mouth area. If you drove in, you left it there, because they did not want to risk people smuggling diamonds out. Stunning scenery and landscapes.... Thanks for sharing!

From watching you guys over the years sailing and now off-roading 🙂 I never imagined seeing you guys doing this and to top it off, in my very own backyard, lovely sunny Mzansi (S.A.) Yeah, we did that trip as a solo family trip in our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with our Wilderness off-road trailer that costs a fraction (10%) of what that Bushlapa costs. Those BushLapa trailers are very controversial here in S.A. The ones that loves them and those that hates them (purely from a cost perspective). They are good expedition trailers and have been a great novelty over the last decade but not the best fit for the average South African overlander because there are much more value for money out here and way better offerings where you don't have to break a sweat nor the bank setting up camp. That novelty or love affair for the BushLapa trailer has since deminished. The ones that hate them and from comments that I've seen in the 4x4community are that they just glorified toolboxes on wheels that features a tent 🤣 A home trailer builder once proved that he built this trailer for R85k where it was retailing for R389k at the time. Anyhoo, love your video. BTW, we never had any anxiety about getting punctures as we have Cooper Discoverer ST maxx's 33 inches on and the trailer has Good Year Wrangler silent armour with Kevlar sidewalls 30 inches, all very strong tyres

13:37 Doing our Afrikaans language proud with those colorful word choices. I love it. I know you are responsible and prepared but pleased you know about the hazardous critters!. Not an expert, Meteorites normally have a lot of metal/iron in them. As the space rock comes in it heats up in our atmosphere and "normally?" breaks up leaving the fragments with a melted outer layer. sorry my brain lost the files I use to watch Meteorite Men it's interesting!.

I went to Saudi Arabia the Riyadh area and they took us out to find Saudi Diamonds in the mountains out in the desert. We found a few. Actually not real diamonds but the stones cut and shined up look almost like real diamonds. They’d mount them in rings etc for you. Pretty cool!

Ben and Ash, It's a Land Rover - if it's not leaking, it's LOW. Keep an eye on coolant and oil levels!!! One of those adventures that the videos will be pulled out for decades. And, get a snake bite kit in the first aid kit, and I think I saw a Garmin with a SAR policy for these terrestrial adventures.

I like where you are- it is simply one of the most intriguing and fascinating places to spend time in. Not easy to find anything to compare it with. The kids are making a ton of memories with the sand-play. Good luck with the diamonds...An 'interesting' explanation of the meteorite hole...ask a more accurate interpretation. One of the best places for rocks.

I would really want a piece of meteor. that one blackened piece may have been a piece. Often they are heavy in nickel and metals. It would be really heavy/dense. Other blackened rocks could just bee the pieces impacted by the meteor. I know you are not supposed to take anything (leave no trace) but just to handle a piece and know it wasnt from our planet would be cool. Thanks for taking us along.

What is this? Well; several things: First; stacking stones (as you probably know ;)) is a sign that someone was there before, so don't forget to stack one on top of it. Together with others, it is a sign of life to others. Second; the crater; Mars will not be 50 years, rather 5-10 years, if not sooner. Technology is moving so fast, might be that AI will soon be more curious than us, who knows!
