I don’t think there's a solid line where "old Roblox" becomes "new Roblox". 2006 is to 2015 what 2015 is to 2024. And 2020 is already noticeably different from how Roblox currently is, but I don’t think anyone would call it old. I think most people refer to old Roblox as an era instead of a constantly changing time period relative to the present day. 2016 is definitely not modern, though.

@@realmanfrfr It's.. not a part of that specific time era. 2015+ isn't "Old" Roblox but get this. Most people people consider 2015-2018 OG mostly because it was when egg hunts started blowing up like crazy and when they got better, but partially because of the ongoing stuff behind the scenes. Old Roblox will soon become something like "Prehistoric Roblox" in the future and I quote "New Roblox" will be old Roblox. Around 2017 is considered The Golden Era for the egg hunts people only cared about. In my opinion "Old Roblox" isn't an era, it's when people joined Roblox years ago (Mostly 2015-2019) because they don't remember further back in time 2006-2014.

You can easily draw the line at the massive population boom in late 2016. That is when roblox's slow population increase suddenly skyrocketed, killing the old community and leading to things like the removal of forums and tix.

Here's a bit of a thing that's very unknown to most of the community even to people from that period (I'm from the may 2011 period): There was a setting around 2011-2012 which actually was official and allowed you to change the website theme to the classic 2010 website theme remain on the navy blue theme. This was because both websites at the time were very identical in layout and likely was a parallel conversion to phase in the new website style. This was before roblox+ because R+ only allowed OBC theme as a toggle or the easter theme (for it's fan-made egg hunt which was just the 2015 website theme but with eggs on the banners).

"they like older versions and dislike newer updates, usually they feel this way because of the joy they felt back then and not because of it being actually better" is not true. this is just objectively wrong, we can all agree by this point roblox is shit. most games are just shitty content farm ass bs, the classic had a tower defense (over saturated) skibidi toilet game (a series already plagiarizing the work of half life in more ways than just models) its come to a point games are copies of copies of copies of games. I mean look at murder mystery 2 clones, mm2 is a copy of gmods murder. you will just find better games if you check out older snapshots of the roblox front page, naming 2016 in specific, that was robloxs peak if I'm being honest, it garnered alot of attention in that time, and still went strong with alot of what it had, either that or 2018. you pick either year you'll find better games, even if it's a tycoon its better than a glorified showcase game. the front page has since 2020 had the list any anime game, it's all the same. mm2, natural disaster survival, work at a pizza place. current popular roleplay game clones. (adopt and raise a cute baby, adopt me, brookhaven) bad horror games. simulators for some damn reason, never went away after 2018. it's not good, it's not been good for a while. theres a point where it is just objective not subjective.

shit on the front page sucks that's going to happen with anything nowadays. it just sucked differently back then. there was crap on the front page back then too it just wasnt as mass produced. every interesting game that used to be around & didn't continuously get updated has at least one modern, more polished, and more fun to play counterpart, and the ones that didn't fell away for a reason. there is no way your ass is going to convince me that "Make a Cake and Feed the Giant Noob" or "Make a Cake: Back for Seconds!" or "Chaos Washers" were compelling and interesting and fun for more than like 10 minutes for anybody compared to games like "Doors". like yeah im cherry picking but your ass is too, even compared to "Stop It, Slender!" or "The Stalker", "Doors" is better in every category. you went off about murder clones... "Murder Mystery 2" was already a thing by 2016 and that blew up alongside a bunch of other murder clones like "Twisted Murder" & "The Mad Murderer" & "Murder" which copied everything directly from gmod including the clue mansion and voice lines, and that all happened the year prior in 2015, and they were all decently popular even in 2016. if an idea was popular enough people even back then would've still copied it and get decently popular even if their version sucked. (roblox high school, high school life) boring showcase games still existed, "Animation Lab 2.0" was just a game where you ran around in a shitty version of R15 before R15 was a thing and that was popular for several months & "Piano Keyboard 1.1" was just virtual piano but on roblox. they were well made for their time but objectively they weren't games. there was more but im just going off the top of my head here. "Adopt Me" is objectively a better game than any sort of adoption game from 2016. it is riddled with problems and i fucking hate it but it has more substance than a game where all you can do is walk around, claim a house and then talk with people. that shit still had morph magic. "Adopt Me" has trading mechanics and shit, its more of a game than any of its predecessors from 2016 were whether you like it or not all of the old games i mentioned were on the front page at some point in 2016 and a lot of them stayed for more than a few months and were still at the back for a year or two. even back then crap consistently stayed on the front page and the same problems persisted with 2018 because that was after all the prison game clones & when games like "The Streets" started getting popular. good games still exist & more good games exist than they did in 2016, they just dont get on the front page as much because they dont have as much money to run ads and whatnot because the shit games already got popular. old roblox was not that much better, the further you go back the games get more primitive and less actually interesting.

I enjoyed bladeball, but it was a copy of deflect from 2 years earlier which was a copy of genjiball in overwatch, I like retrostudio but it's a copy of old roblox clients, I like tunneler but its shamelessly a portal fangame, I like doors but it's heavily inspired by spookys haunted mansion. roblox can have good but that good is usually just an inspiration or copy which is why I cant give it much credit nowadays. what are the games I liked in 2016? feed a hungry pikachu, or raise an epic doge. that second one made a whole genre on roblox, not saying these were profound works of art but atleast they were original concepts. every popular game has a very clear cut inspiration that you cant ignore when playing. so to see someone make something far removed from the inspiration is new. tycoons all are the same, obbys, simulators, theres 3 mostly fleshed out mario 64 inspired games, theres 5 fully developed tf2 clones, 1 l4d, 1 that just fully recreates the opening half of half life 1. it's not easy to name an original idea.

"that's not my neighbor" is "papers please" with a new coat of paint. i guess "superliminal" counts but that was based off of scrapped stuff from portal.
