There IS a way with hg-engine that drayano is doing for Aurora crystal and it's pretty smart. I'll look further into it so I can explain in a tutorial

The aborts due to error issues must be a WSL limitation, I can't imagine why they would still occur on a native Linux machine. Perhaps it's more worthwhile to ask someone with a Linux terminal to compile for someone less tech-savy.

Hey great tutorial, was able to follow it without major issues! What I did notice though (not to my surprise) that using a randomized rom (through Universal Randomizer) gets unrandomized when using it as the "fresh" rom. And Universal Randomizer does not accept the test.nds created by hg-engine. Any idea on how to still get randomized wild & trainer pokemons with this engine?

Great question, I believe the shiny odds are a hex edit. I'm not sure where it is though. I know some people have been tinkering with hidden abilities, but I'm also unsure of the status

hey man thanks for helping me discover this sort of stuff, although ive got a problem, and i dont see anyone talking about hg engine online. when i run make, it starts doing its thing, but after a few minutes it stops and says ModuleNotFoundError: No module named ndspy. apparently this is an error 1 as it says on wsl, but i couldnt find any information so id love to get some help

There's been exactly one so far: Garbage Gold. You can find the trailer on this channel and the download/documentation in the description of the video / discord server. Both Senate and Drayano are working on their hg-engine hacks. I am also working on Mythic silver (development updates on this channel too) that uses hg engine

Had to delete the WAVE_ARC_PV files that were causing errors every time i ran make --jobs in order for it to remake those files and proceed.

Hey I have a question, I've been following this tutorial but at the end, after doing the make --jobs command I get an error message saying "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'ndspy' make: *** [Makefile:254: all] Error 1" Any idea on how to fix this? as the github gets updated, how do you update your rom with the new stuff? do you just have to "make" again?

Yup just make --jobs every time you pull changes or make changes

You'll need a level script to do that. Use the newest dspre or adastras level script editor

Hi! Thank you for you tutorial, it's very informative and it's helped me understand how hacking works to some extent. One question, I managed to get the test.nds out several times, but for whatever reason none of the changes I made in the armips files show up. I do get the message that says to get your money back, and if I move it over to DSPRE all the data for the new Pokemon is there, so I'm not entirely sure as to what I'm doing wrong.

Does it work well with PDSMS and DSPRE? Like if added a new Pokémon in the rom, and then load it in DSPRE, would it be there? Cuz that would be great honestly change the game for gen4 rom hacks.

Hi so I have a question regarding the exp system. Somehow the experience I get is higher than it should be. For example a butterfree lvl 15 gives 2k experience to a lvl 21 accelgor. And the thing is I only edited trainers,mondata, levelupdata, evodata and encounters. Is that normal or?

In one of the config files, you can select which exp system to use. I hope that helps

Hi first of alI englisch isnt my Native language so sorry for potential Spelling/gramar Errors. Second I wanted to ask if it would work on Soul Silver instead of Heart gold or are they too different on a Code level?

Unfortunately it only works on hg. Some file locations are different. But you can just grab the title screen from soul silver, which is how I'm making Mythic Silver in this engine. The games are almost identical

You can use both. Take the output from one and use it as the input for the other

You'd need to give the mega stones to the player somehow, with an NPC or a ground item
