Tip for Bubbie: You don’t want QJ vs KJ, then you would only have one live card. In theory you would want Q9 so you at least have two live cards you can hit🤝

@@Chrissppy definitely possible but poker is so random when determining your odds pre-flop having two live cards mathematically gives you a higher percentage chance to have the winning hand compared to hoping for a straight which is a very low percentage chance. Two live cards = 5 chances (flop, river, turn) at hitting one of your 6 cards to make a pair vs hoping 3/5 cards that come make you a straight. This is why when you have a straight or a flush draw you have more “equity” (higher percentage chance to win) because the number of cards that can come and you win increases.

Another variation a lot of bowling leagues use is that say you get a birdie you get to draw 2 cards, eagle draw 3, par draw 1, chip in draw 1, etc. And you try to build you own best 5 card hand, if you already have 5 you get to still draw and replace if you want. This rewards good play but also is down to the luck of the cards.

You guys could change the rules to the following to keep each group playing: - If you win the round, you can either choose the card you want, or you can give a card of your choice to another group. - if the group already has their two cards, they can continue to play and give a card of their choice to another group if they win the round. This way, every group keeps playing, and you don’t have the issue of a team not wanting to choose a crappy card. Love this game idea btw. Great content!

The boys that had already won a card could decide if they wanted to pick when they win again, or one of the other teams pick. Or have right to a card refresh if they birdie, or something like that. great video and idea!!

Do a blind version, 5 card stud poker. 6 hole match, each round teams pick in order of their placement on that hole, cards are blind to other teams to hide strategy. Each of 5 first holes - Winner gets 5 random cards to pick from, they pick one, then cards are re-shuffled, 2nd place gets 4 random cards to pick from, they pick one, then re-shuffled, 3rd place gets 3 random cards. (or if you want to be rough, 5 v 3 v 1, last place is punished with only 1 card, no choice). Advantage goes to winning a hole to have more options to select from 5 v 4 v 3 (or 5 v 3 v 1). 6th hole - same rules as above, allows for teams to pick a final card and discard an existing card to replace a previous choice, or they stay pat with their existing hand. Teams can play strategy of going for flushes, low trips, etc.. Losers do an ice bath as a team, they lose together, they suffer together.

If you guys want to play poker again.I have a suggestion. 5 card stud. Everyone Starts with zero cards. For each birdie you get 3 cards For each par you get 2 cards For each bogey you get 1 card You can only hold 5 cards at a time no matter what, so you strategize on which cards you give back to the dealer, which those cards get placed back in the deck. Also this way no one knows your hand till the end and the ultimate goal is to get the most birdies and options of cards to strengthen your hand.

You should do this again, but all teams play 6 holes. Then you should be able to switch out cards in your hand if you win a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th hole. You also get to give your extra card(s) to another team, so you can win to improve your hand or win to give bad cards to your opponents.
