If your laces are constnatly shredding, it's likely there's a burr in one of the grommets. Take note of which grommet(s) the laces shred around and take a needle file to them. I've had the same issue with workboots. I went through 3 or 4 pairs of laces and even tried iron and Kevlar laced pairs and nothing seemed to last until I filed down the grommets a bit.

I recently got a pair of the new Sabos. I can't speak too much for durability as I haven't owned them for long, but for anyone thinking about purchasing them, consider sizing slightly up. I purchased them in size 43 based on my foot being a 10.5 and while I find them very comfortable once I get them on, getting the heelcup around my heel can be a bit of a fight because of how incredibly snug they are.

I got myself some Ryderwear shoes. the model is called D-Mak. I thought I could use them for all three lifts, since they have a flat, thin bottom. These shoes give really great ankle support. Inside of the shoe has a soft sort of pillow. it’s not even glued, I removed that so I was even closer to the ground. All in all, these shoes are not durable. the rubber part of the sole started falling of after like three months.. but I got them for like $50 no shipping..

Weird, I've had the Reebok Lite TRs for 5 years, used them for deadlifts 2x/week, and for squat and bench for about 3 years before I got my Adipowers, as well as walking to and from the gym, and they are immaculate, except for some creasing in the fake leather. No tearing, no separation of the sole, no durability issues at all. So I guess beware of QC variability, hopefully the next versions will be more satisfactory across the board.

also got the older sabos and i agree 100%. my straps started to disolve withing 2 months, so i fixed it with a hotglue gun, that seems to be doing the trick for more than 2 months now so i think i am good ^^ they really do feel great, i pull conventional, but tried sumo for some months and the shoes are comfortable for both. i might consider getting the new model if they break completely at one point, but some kind of boxing or mma shoe is also on the table. i would just like to add that the upper strap is really mostly cosmetic as at least on my model it is stretchy and does not really add support, but on the other hand, i don't think it needs that.

I deadlift in minimalist running shoes. merrells atm, since I managed to grab 3 pairs on clearance years ago. weigh next to nothing, can really feel the floor, doesn't slip, super wide toe box and zero mm drop from toe to heel. They're ugly as sin, but I love them. For squats I use innov8 fastlift 325s because I couldn't find a single place with adipowers size 14s in stock. Feel good, but I got them in the ugliest colourway they have available. At least I can leave them around the gym without worrying someone will steal them.

Hey, long time gymbro but I've been focusing on powerlifting with the desire to compete the past few months. What is your opinion on deadlift frequency during a program in the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels? In Practical Programming for Strength by Mark Rippetoe, almost all of his programs have very little deadlift and instead supplement power cleans to build explosion off the floor. That seems odd to me, as I don't understand how you can get better at something without significant amounts of practice. Sorry for being long-winded. Love the channel. Y'all are incredibly helpful.
@Mynameisnotbilbo6 жыл бұрын
That’s because Rippetoe’s programming is for the general strength development of athletes for the most part. If you want something similar to what you’re doing right now (assuming you are following Rippetoe’s programming) but is powerlifting-specific take a look at Izzy narvaez’ powerlifting to win 2 book.
@ciscokidcspf6 жыл бұрын
Instead of cleans, you can do a lighter deadlift variation, most of his programming is based on the assumption that your not prepping for a powerlifting meet. Imo a stiff legged deadlift is a very very good variation tk build strength in the posterior chain. His program also puts a lot of emphasis on one very heavy set of5 every week, this method can be very taxing, and adding a workout that is higher volume even at moderate weights may impede recovery, using 2 more moderate comp deadlift days may be more useful for you given that you want to deadlift more often
@mightymustache69496 жыл бұрын
@@Mynameisnotbilbo Thanks for the help. That book looks like it's right up my alley.

I think deadlift frequency for lifters should be more based on individual differences than any sort of heuristic that hinges on the athletes experience levels.
