Great tutorial, biggest issue I see is that 1, the yard is not closed off properly to prevent peole from throwing crap over, meaning they can get tools, and since your so close to the map edge, the prisoners can dig out very easily

Man, havent played for a few years and looked for a guide to come into the game again. And I love your initial setup and trying to rebuild it. Though there are quite some things im going to adjust. Specially that the waterpump is outside and only surrounded by a fence and that you place the big pipes directly into the walls of your cells. If Im not mistaken, prisoners can escape through those big pipes. Eventually they end up at the waterpump and only face a fence. Also my Yard will be 10 spaces divided from the outer fence and Ill build Metaldetectors at the ONLY entrance my prison has. Did you notice that these new wallamps dont need power? So you can save money on cables. I very much love your cell setup, no need for an external shower, lets have them theyr own. Im very curious how it goes on :D ... so Im leaving an Abo and hitting the bell

I know this is early in your build and most stuff will change, but I'd run a fence on the west side of the yard from north to south and 10 blocks from the outer fence. This will prevent prisoners from getting contraband that is tossed over the outer fence. You'll need a short fence with a staff door between the north end of the canteen and the south end of the cell block. Did I miss you setting the punishments for each offense? Too many solitary cells, imo, and I like to do mean stuff like build a small solitary structure out in the yard and use the space inside the cell block for more cells.
@videogamearchitect74624 жыл бұрын
Man, you're right about it being early in my build, but I was unaware of some of this information I wont lie! Thank you so much for the detailed advice! Stay tuned, you will see me implement some of this in the future for sure! Cheers!

An issue I have with this .. The way he uses the large water pipes makes escape tunnels really dangerous. Sure you want to have the large pipes close enough to the cell for small pipes to reach them. But once a tunnel hits a large water pipe they can basically use that as a highway to escape. So you definitely shouldn't have large pipes around the edge of your cell block like that. Or around the edge of your prison. You're basically saying hey! once your in the water network .. you're out!

It makes perfect sense that it would get dirty without prisoners. Workers are running through it constantly, tracking in mud and dirt. They might be throwing down cigarette butts (no smoking properties tend to only become no smoking after they're open) or leaving behind soda bottles (having worked in construction I can tell you that a lot of construction workers are less than tidy). Dust settles. My only gripe is with how fast it gets dirty. I have 8 janitors in my current prison, two will clean the staff area, and it will be dirty just as soon as they leave. It's impossible to keep the place clean.

Here's a little tip that I don't think you ever mentioned. You don't get refunded when you demolish walls. So it's better to take the extra couple seconds while setting up building que while in pause to not build a wall where you'd be placing a door. Sure it's only $50/block (with the base concrete and brick, all other walls are more expensive) but it all adds up, especially when building cell blocks. Also you won't accidentally lock your workers in.
@videogamearchitect74624 жыл бұрын
Like you said, this may seem like such a small detail to consider, whats $50/block right? Lol as the prison gets larger every bit adds up indeed, just like in real life. So I actually really appreciate this tip, and I'm glad that you let us all know! Cheers for the comment, I'm going to do my best to try to remember to implement this in future videos!

@jupiterrising8879 ай бұрын
Realistically, having showers inside a cell would not work. Sanitation and mold issues aside (trust me when I say the smell would be unbearable in an enclosed space like a cell) if an inmate so desired he could quite easily plug the drain with bed sheets and overnight try to flood the entire block when he wanted to protest or make trouble (and that's just one inmate, imagine if they coordinated the flood in multiple cells at the same time). This is why, in real world prisons, showers are in a separate area and in designated spaces and times for inmates to use.

This is great for new people! I will say you don't need anywhere near as many serving tables for 96 prisoners -- 3-4 is plenty. Your cooks will be working overtime trying to fill all of those spaces and it will go largely in the bin.
@videogamearchitect74623 жыл бұрын
Ahhhh, do they really cook more food than necessary based off of tables placed? I thought it automatically varied depending on number of inmates.... I could totally be wrong though.... I was under that assumption, so I kind of built out the canteen intentionally large so I don't have to tweak it for a while as we expand. Let me know if I've been wrong this whole time though, that is some important information!

You are making your cells too fancy. With the Ready for Transfer DLC, you can encourage prisoners to try and behave by tempting them with a lower security level and a more luxurious cell. You definitely should build spacious cells in the beginning with the plan to upgrade them to more fancy ones later. This alongside reform programs can go a long way to making a rehabilitative prison.

BTW, I did everything you said to do in the game. I can share my prison on steam if you wish to see it. It took me a while to figure out a design I wanted. And I liked your soliditary cells style. So I designed my own Sol. Cells in my prison. The only issue is what I explained what is happening. But I do have a canteen and kitchen.

Love the tutorial,, it helps me understand the game .. shame about the many pesky adverts..how disruptive........ One or two maybe but why so many in one vid...that's what I mean by disruptive..it either that or greedy or KZbin twisting my arm to buy premium...
@videogamearchitect74623 жыл бұрын
It's all part of the KZbin world my friend. It's how channels are supported financially for the work we put in! Hope you understand and stick around for some more!

@@videogamearchitect7462 I understand that totally and totally agree.....thanks u for for response ... I just got annoyed at sound your sound was good but when the adverts it it disrupted the mix as either I had to reduce volume or increase it to match you again... And was missing out of some stuffs and had re watch vid..l.. I learned a lot. About the game......idk why youtube doesn't clump the Addy's together to fit more if this helps you to do u tube....I used too on my radio station..so I got quite a few in but it I wasn't disrupting my programs.. where in u tube they ...does get disruptive so my gripe wasent really aimed at you trying to earn a living from u tube thru it's adverts its just the way Addy's are placed any old fashion and just got tired of seeing so many ...so I do humbly apologize... I should of just kept my thoughts to myself.......to be honest. I stopped my own premium sub as due to covid 19 I had to close down my DJ business..well forced to close it by UK gov untill safe to resume.. I have tried doing a utube vid before but got a copyright strike on a 30sec light show....and had to remove audio wich rendered my show useless as it was working sound to light.. so before I try again .. I need to know rules they must be away to pull a gig of on here and not get a strike......as DJ I would be promoting an artist music rather than trying to use it wrongly.. so as u are way better at this than me .do u. have any advice on avoiding theses copyright strikes ..as I really depend on other ppls music..as a DJ..... ...

I know I’m late to party and you already moved ahead,but still like in previous series I noticed to thing you do and I don’t know why.TVs in cells are turned to wall,is it wall watching TV? 😆 second thing is why don’t you use bunk beds,that way getting 2 people per cell,especially if you make all commodities in them..well hope next time you give shot for gameplay of this game,you put some bunk beds and turn those 📺 facing room not wall.Cool Videos,like to watch how people build their perfect prison in this game,cos my BF works at building a prison at the moment,doing electrical stuff

Hi DoubleTap, my name is Steven Whitehouse, and I enjoyed watching your past tutorials on Prison Architect. I've watched you, Seniac and a few others build your prisons. And I have a small prison of 10 cells. And a very basic detention center and administrator center. I do have a problem with it though. I've built a canteen & also kitchen. And have the utilities all set-up. But the red triangle says I have no canteen. And the is a lightening bolt next to the stop, fridge. And I looked and still can't find the issue. Is there anyway I can load my game unto steam to have you or someone check it out? The name of my prison is StarmanW55's Prison.

I believe the lightening bolt is just letting you know that you need to make sure its connected directly to the power grid. The other issue regarding it saying you have no canteen even though you have one built is definitely an issue I've run into before. What you want to do is make sure that you have absolutely no leaks in the perimeter of your prison. If you have any leaks in your fence or whatever perimeter you are using, for whatever reason the game will notify you that you are missing a canteen. So let me know if these tips have helped you at all! Cheers for the comment, I appreciate the kind words!

Hi DoubleTap, my name is Steven Whitehouse. How big our your prison cells?
@videogamearchitect74624 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, and thanks for all the support first off! Secondly, I believe I made the 7x5 per cell! I have also put all the original sizing information in the description if you want to take a look there to confirm! Cheers for the comment man, stay tuned for more!

@@videogamearchitect7462 - thanks for responding to my post, I almost hit the wrong button there lol. I almost click dislike, and I wanted to say liked lol. my cells are 4x5 and i have 10 cells since I'm a beginner. I looked over my prison and it still says that there is no canteen when I do have a canteen & a kichen. But there is a lightening bolt net to the stove, holding cell & prison cells. all saying no canteen. I can't open prison until I have that issue solved.

I've rebuilt my prison DoubleTap, but I still have the issue where it says that I have no canteen, and I have both a canteen and a kitchen built. And I just finished building the utilities building. I have all the pipes where they belong, but still get a lightening bolt next to stove, fridge. And I missing anything else? I also fenced of the yard as well.
