You know, for such a controversial entry, this game had bold changes to the series that would influence later installments in a major way (the metroid/action RPG ideas). It should be noted the game is actually pretty fun IF you are playing alongside a guide, because playing this blind is a nightmare given poor translations and a glaring lack of direction or conveyance. Next (RPG) RECAPitation with be: Tales of Symphonia

Well done again sir! Your monologue Sparks imagination for possible reboots in mind. Actually brings out the intended imagination the game might have been reaching for in my opinion even.

I think there was thought put into the games design. It was made to be spedrun. And it was made to sell Nintendo Power mags as well. I enjoy the choice of wording for the cryptic to nonsensical dialogue - "Let me give you this silver knife to save your neck". It can be poetic at times at least. Hunt on fellow Belmonts!

You know, you do a pretty good job of narrating these Castlevania stories. Considering around the time these games were made story was not exactly a strong point for most video games at the time. And yet you're able to make these "short stories" sound more dramatic. And I love it.

*Sighs.* Before the days of the Internet, this game was pretty much impossible to complete due to more than a few translation errors and lack of guidance that RPGs tend to give their players now. That said, was this game *fun* to play, ignoring the game's plotline? Sure, I guess. I didn't enjoy the constant day/night interruptions, but for a Castlevania game, it wasn't the worst thing in the world. I mean, back then, who could have predicted the trainwreck that was Sonic '06 or Superman 64? I watch your videos with closed captioning, and 'prosession'? Har har. I've never mentioned this before, but I very much enjoy how you describe the ease or difficulty that the characters, whom you narrate, perform their various deeds. 'Barely edging out a win', or in this case, '... the denizens within are no match for his skill and gear'. A great RECAPitation like always. This one was plenty of little laughs and great alliteration. Wonderful job. Keep at it, and I'll see you on the next battlefield. :D

Never played this one. I wanted to get it as a kid but my mom didn't want me playing such a violent game, yet she let me play RE and Parasite Eve as an eight year old.

Your just awesome man a recapitation on a classic castlevania I used to stay up all night playing Simon's quest when I was little until I finally somehow figured out how to beat it by asking a friend. "Knowing intuitively to kneel by a lake" I almost died of laughter.

I've been replaying the whole (older) series in the anniversary collection. If you play with a walkthrough, this game is actually pretty okay. I can *totally* understand why some people think 1 and 3 are perfection, but I'm old and I don't have the patience anymore to spend hours and hours and hours memorizing the locations and attack patterns of every single enemy, until I have the entire game committed to muscle memory and can finally beat it. Give me a dumbed down grindy metroidvania with RPG elements any day.

I have quite the collection growing up, still hold onto my games like they are baseball cards. With that said.. As a kid I loved this game. It took me about a year with the alphanumeric passwords and such to beat it, and it can be done legit without the tornado. There is a jump you can make in the area you get the silver knife and go to one of the mansions. I played this game so much in fact, I STILL have that silly password memorized to this day to start in town with all the gear. Such fond, wonderful and AWFUL memories of this game.

As Simon is the protagonist people think of when mentioned of Castlevania, would he be considered the Jotaro Kujo of the Belmonts?
@OniBlackMage5 жыл бұрын
I would say Trevor is closest to Jotaro, especially how he inherited a legacy, traveled with a group as well and was the first to defeat the big bad. But in terms of popularity, yes I can see that comparison.
