I've been using the Duracell rechargeable a and they haven't let me down yet. Saves a ton on buying disposables.

that was one awesome review. You fired off 6:17 of info, with very little recharge time!

You did mention what type of battery charger you used. Battery performance can change when discharging and recharging them at a certain amps. Maybe after 2 cycles, those batteries will perform better. Just my opinion.

Great job Pi. Maybe you could just post this video as a video review of the batteries tested on Amazon. Especially useful to be able to view this before the Holiday season. Amazon reviews also mirror your results, along with the twice the price Eneloop XX batteries being better, but not worth the premium price. BTW - I still have 2 of the early 1980 285HVs and they still work. I enjoy the modern ones better [because of the recycling times and lack of fine power adjustments].

Can 8-AA rechargeable batteries of the same brand but with different mAh be combined in a 8 - AA cells flashlight?...(e.g. 4 are rated 1200mAh and the other 4 rated 1800mAh)

How many times did you recharge and retest? This is critical, because 1st charge to 2nd charge often varies hugely in terms of mAh.

What I do when I get a new pack of rechargeable drain. My charger will drain the batteries and then charge them back up. This way the batteries have a better charge. When I was a kid and had rechargeable batteries and a basic charger from Radio Shack the first charge did not last that long but the second charge the batteries lasted a lot longer.

Only Ansmann! ;) Can you make test of them please. I don't have this Vivitar flash and my results are not ... comparables. I used Sanyo long time ago but now only Ansmann :) They keep energy very long time, it's really good product. BTW i don't work for Ansmann :)

Pye Jirsa May I ask, how many AA batteries do you have for your gear? :) Have you ever counted?

I keep 64 AA Eneloops in use, and I refresh them every 18 months.

Thanks mate! :) I'm just curious since I've seen your shots (amazing!) and I see how you love to use strobes so I'm kinda keen to them too so I'm just curious how many AA batteries people have since often I only see 16-20 while I've already got 36 and I need more!

but you need 5 rechargables batteries 1.2v to use in a 6v flash... NOT 4.... with 4 the flash is under the rigth voltage to work
