THANK YOU for the simple DIY mods. I removed the black plastic blocking the intake, but retained the mesh. This resulted to the APU Temps dropping SIGNIFICANTLY! I think max temp I got while gaming on 18/20/25W was 68C! That is a MUST DO mod to anyone comfortable with little tinkering. I also added the 25x25 aluminum heatsink for the stock 2230 ssd. THANKS A LOT for all these information. Really helped me out get some more performance out of my Ally, as well as prolong its lifespan.

Hows the Kryosheet going? Does it actually help with temps ? Also howcome the different colours of backplate have an effect on the temps ?
@cppctek8 ай бұрын
The color of each brands backplate won’t have any affect on temp. It’s all about the airflow potential and then the secondary is the fact that the handheld diy brand has. A metal plate which helps dissipate more heat. The handheld diy brand is king for thermals as seen in the video. Also the kryosheet is more for longevity rather than thermals because it maybe netted 1-2c difference. I have a friend that had an rog ally now locally so we may get together and do some more a/b testing on the next video
@danielshaw0078 ай бұрын
@cppctek ah they're different brands. Went on the link in description and they do 3 colours , white, clear and purple so assumed they were on test.
@@cppctek thanks. 1 more question if you don't mind. I use a 1tb 2230 drive with the little square heatsink mod as per your previous videos. Will it stay in place with the purple handheld diy case? Thanks
@Agriwulfz7 ай бұрын
I don't know if you'll see this or not, hope you do. On the website for HandheldDIY you can bundle the case with a 20w cooling fan but I can't find any videos or instructions on where to install it and if it has any affect. I don't do many mods so I would like to know more about it before I buy it.

The 20w cooling fan isn’t needed but it’s just a generic magnetic fan that I have a similar one of I’ll show on my next video for you.

@cppctek9 ай бұрын
The metal Plate works.
@kuzuriii9 ай бұрын
@cppctek hopefully 🙏, I still think a bigger vent holes and no dust mesh plays bigger part on mod case then that metal plate . Ordered myself just like clean looks ofbitbvs original one , exited to swap them over

@davidfaustino4476 you haven't read my whole sentence, I was talking about bigger vents holes and dust mesh as well, which in my understanding plays the biggest role in dropped down temperatures seen in detailed results

Is the handheld DIY rear case metal backplate removable? I wanted to cut a triangle but would be easier to get it right with it fully transparent...
@cppctekАй бұрын
You can remove the metal but temps are worse. The thermal pad that bridges the gap between the metal backplate and heatsink really do drop temps. It’s not fake

Just a rubber washer. You can use a small o ring or even a fan rubber washer or isolate. Just like the thickness of the pcb itself for the adapter. Just maybe 1mm thick

@cppctek8 ай бұрын
It’s likely running slow due to software problems not hardware problems. If your sd card is borked then send it out. The discords free and we don’t charge to help. Lmk if you have anything else. Usually it’s just quicker and easier in discord to see videos of something rather than txt back n forth in comments. Best of luck.

Do you wan “dust protection” or do you want better temps? Had this done since day one. All I do is check for dust every few months and blow it out.
