Okay so while out of prime, depressed, after allowing a slash by a family head, stabbed in the back why his wife, emotionally hurt, holding back he was still fighting a UI Shintaro. Then he body blocks like a dozen katana strikes to protect gun. Takes a cheap shot by UI Shintaro using a plot device weapon, losing his arm. Only then he starts trying and was gonna solo the entire Yamazaki Clan and his brother regardless of the damage taken or all the nerfs. Then he takes another cheap shot from Shintaro, tanks an entire flurry of katana slashes and stabs from the Yamazaki army, Even then he starts whooping their ass and only dies because he has to save gun from a literal hailstorm of weapons. His death was so circumstantial, like stars needed to align. He had to be nerfed like a dozen times, a plot device weapon needed to be written in, he had to be back stabbed by his wife and cheap shotted twice by his brother, all while protecting his son… and even then it’s very arguably he could have just said “no” to destiny and won regardless. How is this a real character 😭

Shingen was able to take control over right at that moment before that Oni could hurt Gun. We can see Shingen's other eye being normal, meaning he was half controlling his body. And that unique eye is probably the "Oni" we know about. This thing should have his own consciousness- a violent one at that. This is just my theory for now.
