Why though? You’re not playing Dark Lord for the flavor, that’s what Lord of the Rings is for.

@@Rabid_Wombat Ok, that’s still not the point here. I see no reason why you should limit yourself this way with Dark Lord specifically. There are several other Sauron variants that this concept works far better with. Specifically, Sauron, Lord of the Rings. The point here is being good (imo it fails in that regard: the One Ring doesn’t really have much of a place in this deck, for example). Which a “LotR only” build of the commander wouldn’t do. Oh, sure, you can get Saruman the White in here, sure you can have Orcish Bowmasters and March of the Black Gate, but are you really getting a lot of value out of the Balrog of Moria? I think not. This is absolutely best made as a graveyard deck that uses its discard mechanic to draw into win conditions such as Torment of Hailfire, given, that’s expensive.

Important to note that the rings tempt YOU, not your creature! If you have been tempted four times and someone wipes the board. You are still at tempting number four...

This list seems really great! Curious if you could make some suggestions of cards to sub for more counter magic? I think I would need a few more counters with my play group. I love the aristocrats theme though!

Thanks for watching!! As far as cuts go I would take out Tergrid, God of Fright/Syr Konrad, the Grim/Plaguecrafter/Fleshbag Marauder/Razaketh, the Foulblooded. Syr Konrad is good but we already have aristocrats like blood artist. Tergrid is really good at getting killed, she's great if she lives but in my experience I become arch enemy at the table the moment she comes down. So if you cut her then I'd take out the edict creatures with her as they get worse without her. Razaketh has the same problem as tergrid, too good for his own good, he always gets blown up and then your down eight mana. For the counter spells it depends on your budget. Arcane denial did get a reprint in the Lord of the Rings set so its on theme and we play a lot of stuff to punish card draw. Mana drain has always been good but cryptic command is a big ask in a three color deck. I'd probably throw in arcane denial, mana drain, fierce guardianship, disallow, and trick bind because I have combo players at my table. Stay away from the force counter spells as you need blue cards to exile. Hopefully this is helpful!

The Nazgul are very good, especially in this deck. They make great blockers, and every time one of them enters, you can wheel with Sauron. Seems good

@@MickykovsI built a very different list. I went with Wheels, Reanimation, and the Nazgul. Play or discard your Nazgul, then recur them to constantly be Tempted. Sauron helps you draw through your deck. Usually wins with either Orcish Bowmasters or a mass reanimation spell.

Something to not with dreadhorde invasion: the text for amass only lets you add counters onto an army once you have one on board so you can’t make two armies and have one orc and one zombie army. If you already have an orc or zombie army you will simply turn either army into both

I have a Sauron deck that I've intentionally left the One Ring out of. For one thing, I've tried to make it more mid-power, because I have a lot of high-power decks and I needed something more chill. But the real reason I've left it out is because in the Lord of the Rings, Sauron doesn't have ring. He wants it more than anything though, so I do have cards that can steal it if someone else plays it.

I was goldfishing mine today since I finally finished it... and it definitely needs some tweaking... but it also seems like it will do its thing... why play reliquary tower in sauron? you're going to wheel to 4 all the time... at least that's how I designed my deck to play...play 3 cards.. tempt trigger... discard 4 draw 4.... I like this deck list though... your avg cmc is way higher than mine though, this deck list is closer to how I am building my durin's bane deck though... ( I pulled a full art foil of the good balrog so I am merging it with mogis god of slaughter and might even pull my vedalken orrery out of retirement to be able to flash out balrog on other people's turns even though it is a wasted turn when it is played
