Welcome to the 2024 Sequoia National Park Ultimate Travel Guide. In this video, I discuss how to get to the park, how to get around, where to stay (lodging and camping), where to eat, where to get coffee (at home!), and importantly, the attractions of the Park.
Visiting Sequoia National Park will make your neck hurt! These trees are huge and you will be looking UP, a lot! Highlighting any visit to Sequoia is the Giant Forest to see the largest (by volume) tree in the world, General Sherman. The size of these trees is overwhelming and awe-inspiring. But even though the Park is about the trees (it is named after a tree, for goodness sake), a visit is more than just forests and wood. Don't forget about Moro Rock for wonderful views of the area, Crystal Cave (you do need reservations!) and the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mt. Whitney.

Sequoia National Park is renowned worldwide for its majestic sequoia trees, which are the largest living organisms on Earth. The park is home to the General Sherman Tree, the largest tree by volume, standing at an awe-inspiring 275 feet tall. Walking among these ancient giants is an experience that leaves visitors in awe of nature's grandeur.
Beyond the iconic sequoias, the park boasts breathtaking mountain landscapes that captivate visitors at every turn. Towering granite peaks, deep canyons, and cascading waterfalls create a scenic backdrop that's perfect for hiking, photography, and simply immersing oneself in the beauty of the natural world.
The park offers an extensive network of trails, catering to hikers of all skill levels. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll through a grove of sequoias or a challenging ascent to a mountain summit, there's a trail for everyone. The Lakes Trail, for example, showcases stunning alpine lakes, while the Mount Whitney Trail presents a thrilling opportunity to summit the highest peak in the contiguous United States.

Thank you very much. I did go as a young teenager (first time) but didn’t appreciate it. I went again in my late 40s and wow!!! The trees are other worldly.

best camping ive had backpacking up high elevations bathing in lakes clean air water clear see fish and salmon swimming just grab fish no pole needed

Good question - late June is better for weather but not for crowds. I would personally go in April and avoid the crowds (although the weather may not be quite as good).

I’m in Los Angeles wanting to go. But I don’t know if I should go to the sequoia national park or the forest!! Are they different? Will I see sequoias at both places ? I’m lost and need help

So - I was hoping someone else would reply as I know Sequoia National Park, having been there many times in my life but I have never been to Sequoia NF. I know the Forest is much larger (3x larger I believe?) and of course, there are many simliarities. I am also aware of the magnificent Trail of 100 Giants in the National Forest. They are also managed by different agencies - however, I am aware I haven't really answered your question but wanted you to have some reply. I'm hoping someone with more knowledge that I have of BOTH can help you out.

Hello, Yes, there are sequoias in both places but if it's your first visit, i would go to the Park, not the Forest. .

Good question - most searches on the internet say June to August, but it's too busy in my opinion. I much prefer mid-September to mid-October (if the weather holds).

There were people to go walking or camling etc times of "!" that certain ones getting in hide and seek and fighting of ways like then out of other ways any where but it happened thete in the woods but this was at the one mile hike thats theres a sign for a 1 mile hike or a 99 miles hike that leads the opposite way and the one mile hike gos around something green. And tall trees there in the surrounding and further out somewhere but you can check of those trees around too.

I know! I think I read that this is so due to no grizzlies - but, I've seen some pretty aggressvie black bears too. Gotta have bear spray.

Yes, it has been closed since 2021 (according to the NPS). The Park is hoping to open it again this year, 2024.

Cool inspiring message however their in a small gas station unfortunately in the Stoney creek/ montecito ski resort areas so to say their one single inside the premises of sequoia national park systems not the outskirts campgrounds wise dorst creek I believe is the closest to that ⛽️ stationary
