For character specific settings, Lucio's "Allow backwards wall ride", and "wall jump on release"should be set to ON in my opinion. While you need to press jump an additional time when you want to launch yourself off the wall, these settings give a very potent increase in control for Lucio's movement.

I'd disagree on Windows performance mode. At least on Ryzen chips, it's been shown that Balanced plan is ideal for performance, all Performance mode does is stop the CPU from ever lowering clock when idle. You don't really want that due to excess noise and temps. Video > Graphics > Model Detail actually changes a lot more than just character models, it thickens vegetation (famous hidden turrets or emoting hero in bush to stall payload) and if you go Ultra, adds objects like boxes to the map. Just in the Training mode this dropped my framerate from well over 300, to under 200! In my opinion this needs to be Low and never think twice about it. Always Skip Killcam > Off seems strictly better. You can always do a quick Ult check and then immediately skip the killcam manually to track the fight.

By turning shadows completely off you basically handicap yourself. There are several spots ingame that you can see a hidden enemy around a corner or behind cover due to their shadows. The most infamous spots used to be kings row highgrounds where the spotlights project giant shadows on the walls and make people wonder how they were seen.

Hi Iostux, what recoil recovery compensation actually does is that when it is turned off, it acts like other games like CSGO and valorant where the crosshair bobs up and down until it fully reset. While when it is turned on, it allows you to cancel the downward motion(recoil reset) on your own cancelling that part of the recoil effectively allowing you to micro adjust much faster and more accurately. Where as when it's turned off, when you pull down the total motion is bobbing down + pulling down the mouse. Basically on = allows you to keep track of your crosshair alot better since you can cancel the going down motion. But may make tracking targets going down/vertically harder since the bobbing downwards + pulling down would make that a little easier when the setting is turned off. So on might allow easier micro adjustments but off may make it feel more natural when you are used to other games.

This has been driving me nuts. Years ago, I did extensive research about what it does and whether it should be on/off. I couldn't really notice that much of a difference but settled for off as that was supposedly better. Now I read this and see the setting in the video, getting me to doubt again. Must be me but it's still very hard to tell a difference in the practice range (either on/off). I wish Blizzard wasn't so ambiguous about certain settings.
@CorrosiveCitrus2 жыл бұрын
@@UnimatrixKZbin The difference is: - ON; you cannot make micro corrections down during recoil (downward mouse movements feel clamped while shooting) - OFF; you can make micro corrections down during recoil (no longer feels clamped) However, if you manually compensate for the visual recoil by pulling your mouse down, then you'll have to push back up with the setting off. Essentially it works by allowing you to manually compensate for the recoil when it's turned on, and the game will stop the auto-compensation, and when it's off it'll always auto-compensate no matter what, allowing you to make microcorrections instead. Best way to test the difference is to pick Cassidy in practice range, and slowly move your mouse down while shooting with the setting ON and OFF. ON you're xhair will always land in the same spot, OFF your aim will slowly move down.

I think recoil aim compensation is personal preference. For example the known Cree/Cassidy onetrick WANTED has it on aswell and I think IDDQD also plays with it being on. In the end you can get used to both, I don't think having it off will have such a big impact if youre already used to having it on.

Hey @ioStux, great video as always. There's a lot of confusion about the "recoil recovery aim compensation" setting 1. because many people don't know what it means and 2. because it doesn't do what it says it does. The correct setting is actually ON, since that leads to you being able to skip the readjusting animation. I just verified this again ingame: ON let's me shoot, flick to a point after and the mouse stops there. If I shoot, flick to a point and stay there with the setting OFF, the crosshair then continues to move on its own (forces the animation).
@aidzeeegaming56852 жыл бұрын
Setting it to off makes it like other games such as valorant and CSGO. Which may make it feel "natural" but yes turning it on makes micro adjustments easier. But tracking downwards also becomes harder since the bobbing downwards motion is gone.
@aidzeeegaming56852 жыл бұрын
Other games in CSGO and valorant the deagle or sheriff has a forced animation too. So when you pull down with the animation it goes a little lower than what you expect. So I guess that's why the setting is there for the people who are used to having to let the recoil reset that way like cs and Valo.

@@UnimatrixKZbin Using the default "on" setting would interfere the least with your aim and visuals, making it consistent with what the other settings in the video try to achieve. I believe the "off" setting with the additional readjusting motion is really just for CS/Val players who are used to it since I don't think you can change it in those games. I HIGHLY recommend leaving this ON if you're unsure. There's a reason this has always been the default and they only added the override for very specific cases.

Why not leave frame rate on automatic ? It seems to keep frames at your monitor's refresh rate ( the one in bracket ), or why not put it on +10 frames like in the ow1 to remove screen tearing ?
@libertyprime93072 жыл бұрын
Higher frame rate = less input latency no matter what your refresh rate is. I got my frame rate at like 320 and refresh rate is only 144.
@ioStux2 жыл бұрын
@@libertyprime9307 This is technically true, but thanks to reduced buffering and technologies like Nvidia reflex input latency is no longer as tied to framerate as it was before. This means that simply going for as high a framerate as possible isnt always desirable. Locking your framerate prevents tearing at the expense of a negligible input lag increase. Tearing right through the center of your screen can be very distracting to people who notice it, whereas 1ms input lag isnt that noticeable. Its a tradeoff, the only way to get the best of both worlds is through adaptive sync, but setting that up would have taken up a whole vid on its own haha!

Any reason for 2000 being the lowest edpi range? I know jjonak use to use lower in his prime :) Also I would like to see a video on why you think customizable hero sensitivities are a bad idea. I've heard that the importance of muscle memory is somewhat overstated and experienced players can play well and adapt within a range of values.
@ioStux2 жыл бұрын
Sub 2000 eDPI simply isnt practical for most players. You need very high playtime numbers to develop the stamina for it, most players would simply feel very exhausted very quickly with a sens that low. Also having a huge mousepad and lots of desk space. Regarding multiple hero sensitivities, its the same reason people use 38 relative scoped sens on widow, or 51.5 on ashe. Because having uniform sensitivity on characters prevents you from having to readjust. Its not that readjusting is the end of the world, but its an unnecessary inconvenience. The only niche case where it makes sense is with characters completely absent of any aim. Mercy or Winston/Rein for example. So a tank player could have one sens for characters like D.va and Zarya, and then a seperate high sens for Rein and Winston, since those dont require precision aiming. For dps players however, sticking to one sensitivity is just better. The impact of playing on multiple sensitivities might be overstated, but its not fabricated. Its there, and theres a reason why 99.99% of pro players in a variety of games stick to using one global sensitivity. They play for a living, if having a unique sens for each character was optimal, they'd definitely have done so already. But for now, sticking to one sens is simpler and more trusted/established in the industry.
@LorcaLoca2 жыл бұрын
@@ioStux Are there many other games that let you have different sensitivities for different characters? I think overwatch is pretty unique but I could be wrong. I have only recently returned to following overwatch so these days it might be different but I remember that a few owl pros used different sensitivities. Especially some of the korean dps players (fl0wer and fleta etc). That doesn't disprove that the single sens theory isn't the optimal way, but it might not be that important. A lot of pro gamers can do things that are technically suboptimal. (such as owning shitty peripherals) Also I'm not suggesting that the optimal choice would be to have different sensitivities, just that it probably doesn't matter as much as people think.
