Now this is a proper tutorial! Clear, well organized, and extremely well illustrated with actual screenshots from the camera and computer, not just crappy video of the camera LCD like 95% of others. Well done! Also reminded me that another Toronto winter is around the corner :(

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I know, I don't like tutorials where the screen is shot from another camera with glare and all that. It's getting so cold but just last week I wore shorts lol

If you have run into trouble using the playmemories downloader, it might be your browser. I was unsuccessful for several attempts using Chrome, but was successful when using Safari.

Thanks for the video! How can I set the app up that it does a time-lapse but refocuses with every shot? When I do a time-lapse of something that is moving then it currently does not refocus on the object, is this possible at all?
@CrazyLightsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Yeah this app is very weird when it comes to changing settings while shooting. You might be able to mess around with autofocus settings (shoot AF-C with a small area of focus) but that sounds more like stop motion territory. I did another tutorial on the Stop Motion+ app and it will give you more frame-by-frame control. Or maybe you could manually focus? Sorry I don't have any experience trying this. Thanks for watching though!

Great video. What program do you like to use to create timelapse videos for the raw or jpeg files instead of using the standard 1080p video output from the timelapse app? I noticed you mentioned Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.

Hi, on A7RII it doesn't let to change aperture in M mode, it writes "function disabled". It means I have to exit from app, adjust the aperture and than going back to app. Is there no simpler way?

I got excited about this app until I bought it and found out you can't adjust your exposure settings while the app is running. This is not good for holy grail time-lapses when you're adjusting your exposure during the shoot. Update needed ASAP.

I bought my camera used, and it came with the Stop Motion+ app installed by its previous owner (using his ID). Now, if I were to login using my own Sony PlayMemories ID and install a the Time Lapse app, would I lose the old Stop Motion+ app?
@CrazyLightsProductions6 жыл бұрын
No way for me to know for sure but it is saved to internal camera memory, not sure they could force an uninstall. I couldn't find the exact number but I know you're allowed to have the app downloaded on multiple cameras. If it's anything like the PS3 you'll be fine.

is it possible to shoot night to day or day to night with the app? if I shot in 'A' then would it change the shutter and ISO correctly?
@CrazyLightsProductions7 жыл бұрын
I have not done any day to night/night to day time lapses but you should be able shoot in A (aperture priority) and the camera will set the shutter speed itself as the day/night progresses. You probably won't want your aperture to be wide open if you're going from night to day depending on the lens (maybe keep it around 5.6-6.3?) because if it needs to expose darker than the fastest shutter speed in bright sunlight you'll overexpose. Hope that helps!
@lancesmith18747 жыл бұрын
When shooting day to night or vice versa you should be adjusting your exposure manually during your shoot. You can't change your settings while this app is running. The need to update this to make this app worthwhile for me.

Please, I am so frustrated with this. OK I download 1000 pics to my computer but how do they become a time lapse "movie?" All I end up with is 1000 separate pictures. HELP. I thought the Sony software was supposed to do this all automatically.
@CrazyLightsProductions6 жыл бұрын
The app can create a time-lapse video file but only if you set it initally in "Application Settings" check 3:38 of the video for reference. It is the first setting on there. Good news is that you can now turn those pictures into a higher resolution timelapse than the app would give you (you'll get the full picture dimensions instead of the the app capping out at 1080) however you will need some sort of computer software such as premiere pro or final cut, although I'm sure there are free options out there. Hope that helps!

@CrazyLightsProductions7 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the suggestion! I do not have the Sky HDR app installed on my camera mostly because I don't do much HDR photography. It's also because from what I understand HDR can be done in Photoshop or Lightroom which I already pay for. Maybe I'll do some kind of demo or comparison in the future.

They don't list RX100VI on their site. Sony seems to be omitting playmemories apps from their newer camera models without putting in a built-in intervalometer. Very strange. Thanks for watching!

I actually bought the intervalometer I showed in this video and I hate it lol. Bringing another piece of gear sucks and having it hang off your camera sucks when you're using a gorillapod or something. Sony needs to update their cameras to throw in a better version of the app within their menu for free.
@geeeee82686 жыл бұрын
This app is total waste of money. You are limited to 990 shots. Which translates to about 40 seconds. I really don't see a reason why Sony put such ridiculous limit. So don't bother, just get your favorite intervalometer (I don't understand why Sony did not include intervalometer with the camera either) and manually set for image quality, it is not that hard.
@CrazyLightsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Gee Eee yeah the 990 shot limit is rediculous and inconvenient but having to carry around an intervalometer is more inconvenient imo. They're also upwards of $20. Crazy that it's not something they could throw in for free in their menu like on a GH4 or something but you can still get over an hour of continuous shooting. Thanks for watching!
