I feel like it’s so normalized for society and people around victims to say “forgive them, you only have two parents in your lifetime.” If a orphan is adopted, doesn’t that mean they have an extra pair of parents? So that was a fucking lie, you don’t have two, whoever you feel most safe with and parental affection towards can be a substitute for the parents you never truly felt a connection with other than being blood related. Children who have been abused, manipulated or gaslit should NOT be forced to forgive them or be guilt tripped into forgiving the people who made them feel like shit growing up. People should stop putting their own morals onto other people’s relationships with their parents. It’s so disturbing.... the abusers are often given pity while the victims are guilt tripped into thinking maybe it wasn’t so bad. It takes a while to realize how bad the situation really was until you start describing all the terrible things that have happened to another person..... you should not feel like you need to forgive them. It’s a personal choice and I only started to realize people put their own morals onto me because they lived happily or were used to that disgusting behavior by their parents. No one will know exactly what happened to those children, so don’t let their thoughts and words influence you. I’ve decided not to forgive mine and that’s my personal choice. :/
