The execution of Oleg Penkovsky is depicted here in the accepted norm of a bullet to the back of the head..The reality is thought to be that due to the extent of his betrayal, he was taken down to the basement of the Lubyanka, to the heating furnace, and with a number of his contemporaries present to witness the event, acting as a deterrent, he was fed into the furnace, feet first, while still alive.

To be critical of your criticism: It's great to be critically minded, but feeling grateful and expressing your appreciation for being fed, for the fact that someone put out the strong effort to make a history documentary exciting, is arguably a more appropriate response to this fine bit of educational filmmaking. For me, the music works better in some moments to accentuate the tension created by the script and images, and at other times the music stands out too much and so it distracts my attention from the content more than enhances the moment. But what am I a film critic? I keep watching and enjoying and learning anyway, so the filmmakers succeeded. That was their goal: bravo! Thanks, guys!

Operation Husky...despite all the subterfuge almost failed... the Hermann Göring Division counter attacked, and with their fully equipped Tiger Companies, they drove Allied forces back to the beachhead and were only 400 yards from the beach when Ships Artillery saved them from being wiped out. The 17th SS Division " Reichsführer SS" fresh and fully equipped fought several sharp engagements until they fell back and evacuated to mainland Italia fully intact. Husky just barely succeeded.

Unfortunately, the documentary made the USA seem to the defender not the aggressor. The missile crisis was a result of US aggression (the failed and illegal Bay of Pigs invasion). The cold war didn't begin after WW2. It began in 1917 when we invaded Russia. Everyone forgets The first Red Scare in the 1920s and The Second Red Scare in the 1950s. During the Cold War, we supported brutal dictators while the Soviets supported liberation movements.
