The execution of Oleg Penkovsky is depicted here in the accepted norm of a bullet to the back of the head..The reality is thought to be that due to the extent of his betrayal, he was taken down to the basement of the Lubyanka, to the heating furnace, and with a number of his contemporaries present to witness the event, acting as a deterrent, he was fed into the furnace, feet first, while still alive.

@@Roz-y2dThe non-fiction story was great. David Niven was on the team that created the life and personality of mincemeat. One example was opening and closing the love letter thousands of times. Positively strategic to have an expired driver's license in his wallet.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography still-motion pictures/reenactments/documents. Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Special thanks to guest speakers making this documentary more authentic and possible -!!!😉. And last if not least. The espeonise agents whom risk life & limb. Obtaining valuable information/deceiving other agents in the process. Moral of this intelligence operation story. Dead men tell no tales -!!! 😇

To be critical of your criticism: It's great to be critically minded, but feeling grateful and expressing your appreciation for being fed, for the fact that someone put out the strong effort to make a history documentary exciting, is arguably a more appropriate response to this fine bit of educational filmmaking. For me, the music works better in some moments to accentuate the tension created by the script and images, and at other times the music stands out too much and so it distracts my attention from the content more than enhances the moment. But what am I a film critic? I keep watching and enjoying and learning anyway, so the filmmakers succeeded. That was their goal: bravo! Thanks, guys!

Fun fact. General Patton is the person to have shot Pancho Villa. Villa and his men were rIding paatons army barracks and stealing food and medical supplys. Patton pulled his pistol, probably a 1921 .45 cal a.c.p. and shot Pancho Villa n the lower abdomen. He survived.

Operation Husky...despite all the subterfuge almost failed... the Hermann Göring Division counter attacked, and with their fully equipped Tiger Companies, they drove Allied forces back to the beachhead and were only 400 yards from the beach when Ships Artillery saved them from being wiped out. The 17th SS Division " Reichsführer SS" fresh and fully equipped fought several sharp engagements until they fell back and evacuated to mainland Italia fully intact. Husky just barely succeeded.

Unfortunately, the documentary made the USA seem to the defender not the aggressor. The missile crisis was a result of US aggression (the failed and illegal Bay of Pigs invasion). The cold war didn't begin after WW2. It began in 1917 when we invaded Russia. Everyone forgets The first Red Scare in the 1920s and The Second Red Scare in the 1950s. During the Cold War, we supported brutal dictators while the Soviets supported liberation movements.

Tricycle boosted of his playboy lifestyle, womanizing and partying. Double standard if that was a woman spy carrying on in such a manner she wouldn't have been called all kinds of names and had a reputation that a documentary wouldn't have been made about her. Garbo was the ultimate spy and still maintained a family life while working very hard and ultimately saved far more lives than Tricycle. 23:31
