I agree, it looks extremely similar, but the differences are enough to lose the charm IMO. I like the very domed/top hat crystal, panda day/date wheel ,textured dial etc, that's worth the extra. USA assembled does make it cost more, another nice little detail considering it's homaging a watch with American spy history.

Great review Dan. I have one of these. One issue for me; the spec is NH36 but the box states NH35. Not a big issue but triggering nonetheless.

I'm glad i bought a Seiko snk381k1 several weeks ago before Jomashop sold out. It was $115 after tax. Ill have to get it regulated someday it runs -20 spd face up over night. Might change the glass to single domed sapphire later. Amazing lume for a field watch. I kept it on the original bracelet to lessen the look of the short lug to lug on my 7.5 inch wrist.

I think it’s pretty cool. A watch can’t just be judged on just specs sometimes. But yeah, like you said, just changing the crystal would have gone a long way. Thanks for the great review!

I have both the Praesidus Recon and Seiko SNK381 , both brilliant watches but Seiko numerics are larger and not as accurate as the Praesidus version. The Seiko SNK381 is better value but my opinion favours the Praesidus for it being a faithful copy to the original Mac V Sog version. Seiko should have released a re issue version if they are clever to do so

You do know that there is a tool for hand winding mechanical watches I bought one years back for winding my 64967 mechanical watches they really help preventing damage to the stem and over winding pretty sure you can snag them on Ali Anyways enough pissin in your ear my friend always appreciate and enjoy your content Keep em coming and Be well 👍

Hey, you should look up the Seiko 5 snk381, that is a proper homage of the MACVSOG, and from the same brand, for less money. I bought it and have installed a Sapphire crystal, changed one of the day/date wheels to have the black & white effect, and Iam just shy of changing the movement for the NH36. I've swapped the crystals on a couple of favourite watches as they are far clearer and I don't like the milky ring sapphire gives. This is a great watch. Is it me or is that a Patek travel watch vibe?

It's a braw watch, at 300 it's heart over head....if however they went with 100m that would make it a different proposition altogether....K1 v Sapphire, well folks are always going to want S however as collectors we've all got that wee tube of poly watch....plus we need to consider the market, I'd imagine the majority of these will be bought by collectors who have a rotation thereby further minimizing the need for S crystal....I wear what makes me smile when I check my watch box in the morning and unless I know I need a G I do not match my watch to the occasion therefore 100m is more important....🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚

It's got a great vintage look and an unusual date complication color scheme. Plus made in the good ol' US of A for all the Ali haters. Thats why its $300.

@@climbmaintain I was in USASOC and deployed to SE Asia with JSOTF-P and I'm very much considering one of these. They are definitely for those of us with an appreciation for military history and horology. I have Hamilton and I have Timex. I'm not a watch snob. I really like the idea behind Praesidus. They're one of the only ones doing this kind of thing.
