I think you'll find that this is an excellent choice of video topic for the simple fact that it makes me incredibly happy to see in depth discussion of SM64 romhacks

I just want to say, it is so incredibly hard to find people talking about hacks that aren't Star Road, Last Impact, or basic modifications. Star Revenge in particular (the canon ones), ive probably put hundreds of hours into them at this point, and safe to say i enjoy them (and SM64 hacks in general) Much more than most commercial games these days.

Star revenge reminds me of Touhou series, the amount of sequels (Including .5 games), the difficulty, some graphics and songs, etc

This was a fantastic video. I've been very much a fan of SM64 romhacks as well as just being part of the community of people who make them, but this series has always kind of intimidated me because of the sheer number of entries and remakes and stuff. Though I guess that's a testament to BroDute himself. How many other romhack creators can claim to have a series with this many numbered entries, most of them being pretty good? I'm highly anticipating future entries in this retrospective. Also at 9:10, it may not have been BroDute who wrote that. Basically, before the Funny Simpleflips Romhacking Site was opened to the public, nearly every SM64 romhack in existence was added onto the site by its moderators. These same moderators were responsible for adding descriptions and tags and stuff for these hacks, and I could definitely see them adding something like that lol. Though once the site was actually made public, the hack creator could edit the description as long as they claimed the hack as their own.

I'm very glad you enjoyed the video! I can definitely understand feeling a little lost with the Star Revenge series. I probably would be in the same boat if I hadn't stumbled upon them when I was first getting into the scene. Also, about the descriptions... damn, I just assumed that BroDute would be the only one to make a statement like that. But if it was someone else, I have to respect it, that's kind of powerful.

You are a saint for making this. Retroactively I've tried to wrap my head around the release order and reception of this series, but for obvious reasons it's a nightmare to grasp. Would love to see you cover all the SR hacks in production order, even though that seems like a gargantuan task. I can't afford the time to play every single hack listed on the wiki, but I'd still like to understand the scope of BroDute's work, and decide which hacks I do want to play.

How did I even missed that video for a year disclosing how Star Revenge has aged for the better... and for the worse?! Subscribed since I'm a hard knocked fan of the series since the very first and obscure entry (we'll get to that one day). One thing you might be interested to know is that I've "reworked" on SR1 Redone 1.3 2.0 with more QoL fixes because I'd agree that remake is superior than the original. Biased personal take but, I will not yield over what BroDute thinks!

Good video, it is very rare to find people analyzing super mario 64 rom hacks. How long will it take to upload the second part?
@GexLogm Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate the comment. Honestly, it might take a while for me to upload the second, as college has been eating up most of my energy. It might have to wait for summer break, unfortunately.
