see I feel the ability to have the ar chambered in .350 legend, or 450 bushmaster is a better setup then a lever action.
@languagesource3553 ай бұрын
@@brandondavis4306 I don't disagree with that :) But depending on your friend's experience lending him a SA is a bit less safe. Plus, lever actions are just cool and very practical for the woods. I got my first deer with 350L with LPVO, so I like it, but also like lever actions.

If the Buckhammer receiver can handle the 50,000 psi generated, them the .35 Rem can be loaded to exceed the downrange ballistics of the Buckhammer. Factory ammo for the .35 Rem has been intentionally loaded at very anemic levels to account for many model 8's, 81's and probably the 141 pump rifle. The modern Marlin's and now the Henry HO24-35 Side gate can handle re-load pressure indices that no factory load could approach.

I love the 35 Remington it's my absolute favorite hunting cartridge, modern rifles, modern powders, modern bullets the 35 Remington could be loaded to equal the 358 Winchester ballistically... But the ammo companies are purposely trying to kill it because of the straight wall states which if anyone would grow a pair and sue the straight wall states the Bruen decision would kill the straight wall state laws... Although I wish my state would adopt the straight wall law to our alternative season...

Definitely an awesome cartridge and rifle. It fits in between the handgun cartridges and the old 45-70 Gov for folks who love a lever action rifle 🤠. I recently moved to Ohio last year and need a straight wall cartridge rifle and eventually want a lever gun. This cartridge is perfect for that. However I am waiting and hoping that Henry chambers the 360 Buckhammer in their All Weather series, hopefully 🤞🏻 by Shot Show this winter. 🦌🔨
@languagesource3553 ай бұрын
I also hope they make All Weather. In the meantime there's the X Model in 350BH - with polymer stock (with a little pic rail and M-lok slots) and it's threaded. Only costs $30 more vs. the regular walnut version. I apply Renaissance wax to blued steel portions and it protects them from rust. Had my Henry 45-70 walnut out on a rainy day - just wiped it off and no rust, no issues. Stainless will still rust, if neglected. But I'm definitely more concerned about wood - it can get damaged beyond repair in some situations. I guess I'd just get a polymer stock then. So far it's pristine, I've had it for 3 years.

@@languagesource355 I’m glad that some others also think the same way about there needing to be an All Weather series chambered in 360 BH. If you get on your PC or Laptop 💻 get on their website and click on the suggestion box 📦 and make that suggestion please 🙏. The more people who ask for it the more likely they will get it done ✅. Yes I was debating between the two versions and like both for different reasons. If I have to choose one because they sadly don’t make an All Weather I would get the X for the fiber optic sight and threaded barrel. I also know that replacement stocks for the All Weather are available to buy and change out. I might even get it cerakoted a light grey and make my AW if I absolutely have to. Thanks 🙏 for the advice and sharing your experience

The wood and blued version simply won't be a problem in inclement weather. I'd say hunters would give up on the weather before wood and bluing did, that is if proper care is taken with it putting oil on, perhaps some oil or waxing on internal surfaces before heading out and a good wipe down and oiling when arriving back. People think wood and bluing will break down like a 1970's pickup truck driving on salty winter highways.
@languagesource355Ай бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket sometimes weather changes during the day. Yes, wiping down and oiling all sounds correct, but sometimes you're on multiple days' hunt, very tired, etc. Weather-resistant finishes definitely make life easier, even though the classic wood/blued is timeless.

@languagesource3553 ай бұрын
45-70 is also not allowed in some of the "straight wall" states, due to OAL. 357Mag and 45 Colt can be on the weaker side for deer, especially at distance. They are legal and generally sufficient, but not always. Hunting ammo in 44Mag, 45 Colt will be as expensive, or more, vs. 360BH. 45-70 ammo is very expensive and the recoil is higher. For those who already have existing firearms in some of those calibers, that's fine, if you can use them where you hunt. For someone completely new to this, or new to straight wall, it makes more sense to get into 350 Legend and 360BH. I am actually regretting recently getting into 30-30, the ammo, the reloading dies. I really want a Henry in 360BH. And they are still just as capable outside of the straight wall areas, anywhere one might use a 30-30. Henry or Marlin in revolver calibers (357Mag, 44Mag, 45Colt) will cost almost the same as a new 360BH. Winchester 92 style actions make it harder to mount a proper scope (red dot is easy). For someone who just wants a new straight wall carbine, and doesn't need to have a matching revolver, it just makes more sense to get 360BH. It's as capable, if not more, as 35 Rem, legal in more areas, and should eventually be very common and available - ammo at every Walmart like 350L. Hopefully.

I recently made the mistake of buying a Henry 360 Buckhammer. The terrible customer service I have received has forever tainted how I feel about this company. When I as a customer reach out about a concern and get told by a customer service agent that "We'll get to it when we get to it", tells me everything I need to know. I will never buy another product from this company. The sad thing is that my brother got me really pumped up about Henry. Never again. If it weren't irresponsible, I'd throw the damn thing in a river. The worst thing about this situation is that I haven't even had the opportunity to fire the rifle yet. This is 100% a customer service situation.

The problem with that is that they are promoting the new cartridge and ignoring the 35rem and all of us that still use it.

From what I understand, the 360 uses basically identical projectiles the 35rem uses. The manufacturers should be gearing up to crank out more of those which should make things easier for the 35rem people

The front sight is too far over. J get i can put an optic on it and it will be fine. But why cant i use the iton sights if i paid 900$ for a gun. Plus just about every part on it feels loose the foregrip moves a 1/8 inch. Im just posting this in hopes that it saves someone else the same mistake i made. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio. Only a few years back many of those only allowed shotguns (with slugs) for deer. Some states have "slug gun only" areas, like MN, and those can eventually also become straight wall, if they follow the lead of the other 5 states. And some of these areas are prime white tail hunting destinations, so people travel there for deer season. Which makes these cartridges even more marketable.
