EXTERIOR
Few times can a car be described as pristine but as the Ford marketing slogan proudly states this, ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ example virtually is! Finished in the ultimate period 1970’s extra-cost colour of Metallic Saturn Gold, (Code 978), the car oozes nostalgic charm. Style and luxury, the lines are clean and cool, set off by bodyside protection moulding that is colour matched to the Beige vinyl roof. There are a few tiny marks to the original vinyl roof, rear bodyside moulding and touched-in chips, all utterly insignificant. The bonnet bulge, Ghia badging and large 3.0 wing badges remind onlookers how special this car is. The underside and all apertures are stunning with only a light application of waxoyl to allow easy inspection of the perfect structural integrity. The supplying dealer screen sticker is still attached to the rear screen with glass displaying Ford logos. This show-worthy example will delight any enthusiast seeking a top-of-the-range Mk2 Capri.
INTERIOR
Sumptuous interior design synonymous with Ghia and luxury motoring is absolutely stunning in this low mileage example. The contoured seats with built-in head restraints are trimmed in Tan Rialto fabric upholstery, (Code W2). The material is not baggy and the matching vinyl bolsters have no wear or rips. There is a small mark on the passenger side vinyl. All coloured-keyed deep cut pile carpet, door cards and headlining is unmarked and the wood grain instrument surround with a full arrangement of working gauges has no fade, lift or peal. All non-protruding switches, quartz clock and Ford AM radio operate perfectly. The spotless boot area has the original ribbed floor carpet, Ford jack and super rare load compartment cover. A modern dashcam has been professionally installed and the supplying dealer tax disc holder remains attached to the front screen. An opulent, factory fresh Ford interior.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The most powerful engine available at the time was the 3000cc V6 engine as fitted to this genuine 3.0L Ghia. Power output is quoted at 138bhp at 5000rpm to offer a top speed of 121mph and 0-60 in 8.2 seconds. The engine bay is an exhibitionists dream with everything immaculately presented. A standard exhaust system has been custom made at significant cost to maintain the factory look and V6 burble. Perfectly suited to this range topper and standard equipment on the 3.0L Ghia is the C3 automatic gearbox in fine order thanks to a complete overhaul in 2015 with accompanying invoice.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Cast aluminium sports road wheels with the correct diamond cut finish are unmarked. Expensive Pirelli Cinturato CN36 185/70 VR13 were fitted in 2019 with ample tread. The hydraulic dual-line servo assisted brakes with front discs and rear drums bring the car up straight and true and the car is still fitted with the correct 2 port Girling master cylinder.
HISTORY FILE
Built in January 1977 at the Cologne Plant in West Germany and registered new on 2nd March 1977 as a dealer demo by Ford Main Dealer, Cowies of Stoke, this Mk2 3.0 Ghia has covered a documented 28,689 miles. The huge and extensive history file is breathtaking. Sold to a Kathleen Emery in July 1977 by Cowies for £4449 when she part exchanged her Feb 74 Yellow Capri with 14,630 miles it was owned by the same lady until July 1995. Spotted for sale by Ford Capri enthusiast Andrew Richardson in Classic and Sportscar classifieds for £3,995, the advert read; ‘probably the finest original car of its type in existence, one lady owner from new, 26,000 miles, FSH, a beautiful original car in pristine condition.’ Andrew purchased the car and remained the custodian until May 2023. His dedication and love for the car is flabbergasting and the history file contains everything meticulously catalogued with articulate descriptions and photos of any works carried out to leave no doubt in the mind of the next custodian, this car has wanted for nothing. All handbooks, brochures and spare keys are present. An incredible opportunity to own one of the finest, immaculately presented and luxurious Capri 3.0 Ghia models to survive today.

We went to pick it up and I was gutted, it was a manual version of this, no double headlights, beige vinyl roof, and same color. Now at 58 I appreciate how lovely this is, I was wrong. Where do you find these amazing cars? I love the Ghia's seats, and the Ghia badge on the steering wheel to remind the driver that they were driving no ordinary Capri. Those alloys are the original, proper Ghia ones. Most others like these would have a full-silver refurb by now. I love it.

That interior looks as nice as the one in the 1976 Ford Brochure, as a youngster we got our Escort from Godfrey Davis in Neasden, it was a super showroom and still remember that unique Ford interior smell nice, later I locally saw a Ford Granada mk1 S for sale around 1985 £800 wish id bought it but was too busy with Rover P5b's. Thanks to KGF for a super upload and best wishes to all at KGF,loved ones and fellow viewers. I remember building the Monogram 1/24 Capri kit around the late 70s, good old days.

An astonishing example gentlemen. Considering the age (47 years) the paintwork looks beyond any example I've ever seen, assuming all is original. Longevity was certainly never a consideration back in the 1970's. Also those Ghia seats always looked baggy because the fabric stretched and the foam quickly collapsed. Again, potentially unique, if no re-upholstery has occurred. I wish you all the best with your sale.

The Ghia spec Mark II and Mark III Ford Capri fastback coupes with V6 3.0 Essex leaded petrol overhead valve engine, automatic transmission and alloy road wheels were very smart cars.
