In this video I travel with the Peters down to Victoria to look at Peter's timber trawler the Lisa Ann being restored and converted by van Abel Shipwrights. The Lisa Ann is a 57 foot timber trawler built by McLaren in 1982. Rather than just extending the wheel house back over the aft deck, this boat is having the deck raised by 300mm and the engine moved right to the stern with a v-drive to convert the old engine room into accomodation.

Hi Stu, I dont often leave comments, but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your channel. I watched you restore Renko from the beginning and was instantly hooked. I think it's down to your personality, and the relaxed way you explain what you are doing that makes it fascinating, even to someone like me who has very little understanding of engineering, and the finer points of boat-craft. It's great to see you back, and thank you for all the time & effort you put into your videos. Please keep them coming! All the best, from Bath in the UK.

I finally heard the magic words "the naval architect said" I owned a boat repair shop and when I watch some of these boat saving videos I am floored when I see them putting in ballast wherever or moving the engine or water tanks without having a naval engineer consult. Kudos to you and your crew for doing this right and safe. This is the first of your videos I watched and I am subscribing because I won't have to say out loud (to myself) don't do that.! looking forward to seeing your progress. That was the best discussion with any engineer expert I have ever seen on KZbin. I hope some other self boat saving people watch this.

Nice to hear from you again Stu. So basically she's being restored as a cruising yacht, which will be a beautiful home that you can cruise on the water to whatever tropical paradise you so desire. It will definitely out live the rest of his life and his family will be able to use it for decades to come. If they take care of her which I'm sure they will. She really is a beautiful classic Trawler that is for sure. Definitely keep us updated. Stu.

Great to see you back, Dangar Stu and in Paynesville. Recently bought a Cheoy Lee 35 foot trawler on the Lakes with the intention of relocation to Melbourne but have decided to keep her in Paynesville because of the beautiful bays, sheltered berths and awesome infrastructure. Try to get out to Ocean Grange next time you're down there. Great restoration in progress. Best, Stuart S

This was very interesting. Your experience of working in front of a camera has drawn out the best of the various people involved who were obviously guns at their job but not movie stars. I think the owner Peter has made some worthy decisions with his money rather than just buying new and that this series following the build could also lie in the vessels history books.
@DangarMarine
@DangarMarine Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I was very interested to hear that this will end up being cheaper (althought not cheap!) than buying a new boat of the same size, not to mention being exactly the way Peter wants it to be. Add in the fact that a classic trawler gets saved and specialised trades get kept alive and I think it is a real win.
