Great video. I agree with all the points you raised. In addition, i found that i have learned a great deal about color thanks to them. I've shifted away from relying on dark blue/grey/black to appreciation of earth tones and a lot of shades drawn from painting. Rust, ochres, mauves, etc. This helped me through the stagnant years of the pandemic. Same with getting comfortable with volume. I (early 40s) was very used to a slimmer, more rigid silhouette, so to be at ease in garments is a vast improvement over having to dress up and be formal. The denim plays a huge part in this. Especially the double breasted blazers. I collect them when i can and have about 7 colors that i rotate. As you said FW 21 is a high water mark that i still scour the web for. One frustration is the recent price spike and a focus on a lot of very expensive fabrics. It limits the ability to comfortably buy from the runway, but i have always loved hunting out bargains and resale, so this merely encourages that. Also, Uniqlo U is an excellent supporting player. I find it helps me explore colors i might not splurge on, blends well with mainline (denim, tees, and cotton shirts, especially), and holds up quite well in terms of both aesthetic and durability .

Also, they taught me a love for vests. Especially in warm months, having them for layering has been a real boon. I am less depressed about hanging up my jackets as a result. The women's denim vests from last spring were especially great and not too popular. I am still hunting for additional colors there!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Their colors are incredible, I agree. I know that’s a huge focus for the brand and they do it amazingly. I love their prints too, although I’ve yet to purchase any since they’re typically the priciest items. I recently have been very interested in the what’s as well although I haven’t picked up one of those yet either. I almost picked up one a few years ago but it was in khaki which is a color I don’t really wear so I didn’t. Towards the end of the Ssense sale is usually when I pick up the best deals for some new pieces! I typically get 3-5 per year or so! It’s slow build but the way I see it, I appreciate it that much more when I can buy a piece!

@@kevinpeterwilson5607 I do the same with the Ssense sale. It is especially great with the unisex pieces because they can have double stock. And don't forget to keep watching pieces you buy on the site for the next two weeks. If they stay in stock and the price drops, they will match it. I have gotten some nice little refunds this way! I like the prints too, but have only picked up one of those pieces since they are so pricey. It was a shirt jacket from FW 22 with the red and the black. It was a sale splurge, but I'm glad I did it because I don't see myself tiring of that piece or finding another season where those pieces are so in tune with what I wear. I used to shun tan and khaki, but I've found that I don't mind in in certain contexts thanks to them. TheRealReal had a workwear db blazer in tan a few years back and I almost passed on it due to color, but it has ended up being one of my most worn. As you said, the slow build makes the pieces seem more special. I was lucky to add quite a few in 21/22, but now I am back to the slower pace. The only thing I've picked up from the current spring is the black denim chasuble vest. I was really intrigued by its shape and with that color, it didn't need a new pair of trousers to pair with. I've been toying with wearing it over turtlenecks, t-shirts, and half sleeved button downs. It has revitalized a lot of older things I'd tired of. That's pretty much what I am for in a new piece at this point. A unique silhouette that still folds in to my existing wardrobe.

Hi - nice video, thanks. I’m thinking of buying the indigo denim belted twist trousers. I’m usually a size medium. Would you recommend getting a medium in these trousers? Are they true to size?

Amazingly comprehensive introduction for anyone new to Lemaire…. Are you in NYC? I am visiting in October and am wondering if you know of any in-shop stores since there is no Lemaire brick and mortar in the US. Would you mind sharing? Thank you.

Thanks for making this video. You explained and put into words why I love this brand so much in a way I didn’t know how to express. I also learnt a lot about the brand. I’ve always kind of kept away from luxury designer brands due to the elitist feeling they give off. Lemaire naturally makes me want to invest in their clothing based off their realistic consumerism views you’ve described in your video.
