So much for a rough season. Your tomatoes look fantastic!! It sounds like your season is pretty short too. Do you ever use a greenhouse or grow determinate plants to maturity indoors during cold months?
@lucasgrowsbestyt Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Unfortunately they got early blight so I didn't get a ton of edible 'maters. I would love to get a greenhouse someday, and have never tried growing from seed to harvest indoors. I just haven't had as much luck indoors vs. outdoors.

Got tons of tomatoes so far this year. Gonna make a huge pot of chili tomorrow and I have some jabaneros for it too.

I think this is the method we will go with next season. We did grow bags this year. Had a good yield but all were on the small side. Thanks for the info.

Hi Lucas - great advice re: trellis support. Having neat rows of tomatoes would make life easier, def going to give it a try next year. Have only gotten a few ripe tomatoes so far, the weather has not been veg friendly. Cucumbers are doing ok, not nearly the yield from last summer. Will amend the soil before next garden season (have to check out your video about this). 😎Awesome vintage Star Wars t-shirt ('77). Thanks!!

Hey Tricia, thanks for the kind words and glad you like the SW shirt! It was not a great year for the tomatoes unfortunately as they succumbed to early blight. At that points, it's basically game over. I'd love to have a greenhouse for some of the warm season crops and look forward to this at my future property!

Midwest US also a mediocre tomato and pepper year.. it was hot, dry and smokey in June, then cooler in July. Peppers and tomatoes about a month behind.

Same here in CT, I was a bit late putting my plants in the ground but I've only just been harvesting some cherry tomatoes, all of my slicers are still green.

I am growing Sun Gold and Sweet 100"s. In another video you stated that you froze those brands I believe. What do you use them for...silly ? but never thought about cherry t's. Use them in sauce I guess?

Froze? I’ve never frozen tomatoes haha. Cherry tomatoes are great straight off the vine, in salads, veggie platters, bruschetta, roasted.. sky’s the limit:)

Lucas, any chance you could make a future video when your Romas ripen and show us how you make spaghetti sauce? Or even pizza sauce? Not sure if they're different or not, but there you go lol.

Is that 2x2 wood?
@lucasgrowsbestyt8 ай бұрын
They’re pine 1x1s. Very inexpensive for a trellis!

Supersweet 100's are not like your grocerystore toms. They are 100 times better and the standard of cherries. Grocers use varieties that are picked green and look pretty for months. SS100's would not work for grocers. You can buy the most expensive cherry toms from the grocer and they are garbage.

It wasn’t warm last summer and they were spraying crap in the sky. Cloud seeding.
