As a dad, that birthday card sums up all you hope to hear from your children when they grow up. Keep up the great work fellas. 🇺🇸

Like you I have always been interested in my dad's past. From Vietnam, hog farming, construction, and management. That said, my kids have no idea what I do or have done. I think I owe it to them to sit down and tell them of the early years me and my wife went through. Very similar. BTW, when times got tough and I was forced to sell my "time" for money, it always went to the highest bidder. I knew I couldn't get it back so I wanted it to count. Long hours in coal mines, offshore oil rigs, whatever. Just filling in the hole and buying time til I figured out my next move. Tough times but looking back...they brought on my best attributes. Love the pod. JRE lookout!

Grew up on and lost a dairy farm in MN back around that time. I help grain farm for a local guy part time. I have a better chance of stepping into bllshit now than full time farming. Its awesome to see the relationship you guys have. Keep these podcast coming

Ever heard of these hams, they sell by the ounce $18, or $600 for a 10 pounder. The ham, which is unsmoked and cures for 24-30 months, is heirloom black Ibérico hog, the legendary pigs who spend their final months living in the Dehesa oak tree forest on a diet of acorns, comes from Spain.

Sounds tasty. And expensive. Holy cow!

I'm sure you guys have thought about this, but a side benefit to some of these videos, this one, the ones with your uncle, the one where you Tork talks about his dad, they'll be able to be passed down to the next generation for them to know more about where they came from. Good stuff guys.

Great video very interesting to hear the history from Tork. He mentoring alot of stuff there still are that way here in Denmark. Contract feeding is not a thing here alle pig farmers ovn there pigs. What he refere to as farmers hybrid is still the crossing used here and we are payed by Lean Meat as a exempel our pigs must way around 210 pounds live weight or 170 pounds Slaughtered for getting premium price and we must get that price to make a profit. All farmers here make there ovn feed im working at a 2000 sow farrow to finish operation our operation is on 6 sites and all of them got a feedmill from Skiold. We do not feed corn but use wheat and barley we dont have the clima to grow corn for grain. The cropping program often speciel crops like grass seed and industrial protatos, small grain and canola. Canola is a crop there does great with hog manure it likes nitrogen and phospor. Almost all hog operations over here is SPF that means that biohasert is a big deal our status is SPF + ap3 it has now got bigger after some sales People in EU did Lie to the chiness and said that that Denmark is total desice free so now is it dictated by law that Denmark must be PRS free by 2025 that means that the small or old producers are quiting. Tork did also mentor the propan Bill im Wondering why you aint using your straw/ corn stuppel to heat the barns and houses that is what we does here it takes 10 minutes a day to start a tractor and put a bale in the oven and some labor in harvest Baling and hauling it home we use 1000 bales a year.
