Focus of domestic sales and you'll compete against chicken and beef. Should focus on exporting to China. They'll soak up all the pork.

GDP is higher than it was before covid, stock market has been at an all time high, rate of inflation has decreased significantly(especially compared to the rest of the world), and the midwest has had a manufacturing boom. Hopefully we continue on the right path like we have for the last 1-2 years.

They need to get into organic grassfed livestock. At the end of the day farming is just another business and if they can’t evolve they’re gonna die out. It’s sad but it happens and the sooner they realize that the better their position will be when they transition to ironically greener pastures. They can still farm their original crop but they should divest heavily from it being the main staple.

Pork needs to bring some more marbling breeds in. Eating pork steaks and pork chops is just dry and kinda like eating cardboard. But it is cheap and available.

18 Countries currently do not accept GMO grains, leading the pack is Europe and China. It's sub-standard to them and not nutritious as well as the grain that animal was raised on. We wonder why most of the US are overweight and why we have horrible Health Insurance costs. It's the profit everyone involved thinks they deserve. We try to raise our own meat and vegetables but wind up buying something from somewhere at times. At our age, the results aren't as fast to be seen if ever. But I do believe that quality, nutritious food should be a priority for this country. The rest of the World doesn't want what we have to sell them. Some changes are needed.

Back in 2018 farmers were hit hardest by Trumps policies. They said ‘give me some more.’ Choosing a culture war > your livelihood is a bold choice a lot of farmers made…twice. Let’s see how it plays out.

The US eats more pork than my other meat (I think). Saying that this is something to be “focused” on doesn’t make sense. Either it’s at a price point where people buy it or it’s too expensive - that’s honestly it. Do that or raise something else.

Nope. Chicken then beef then pork. 🐷He’s a pork producer so of course he wants the us to focus on it. It is his livelihood. 💸Also this topic is on trumps agenda. There was already a tariff on it in 2018 that sucked for them and then DT wants a blanket 40% on China 🇨🇳which they said they’d match. So this guy and the guys whose podcast it is (hog farmers) 🐽won’t be able to sell to China and the American consumption is too low for their output. They are potentially losing 30% of their profits. (Exports) 🤑

I am not disagreeing with anything he's saying however, American's like chicken and beef. The only real part of a pig American's love is bacon, that's basically it as far as what we consume on a regular basis. You don't go to India to sell beef, don't try to sell pork chops to Americans. Americans dislike pork so much we changed the hotdog industry from pork to beef. Focus your pork sales internationally and find a way to get in the chicken/beef game while slashing the costs in America.

@raulo19999
@raulo19999 16 сағат бұрын
I wouldn't say Americans dislike pork that much. We still have hams at the holidays, sausage for breakfast, and pulled pork at cookouts. The hot dog thing is because of kosher hot dogs. Ball park and all of the cheaper brands have pork. The problem pork producers have is the price point at the store. If there's a sale, pork butts are less than $2/lb. And spare ribs. And whole pork loin. It's as cheap as chicken. If it goes higher, people will buy beef.
@commoncents9732
@commoncents9732 15 сағат бұрын
@@evmarekaj Ok next time you go to a grocery store compare how large the meat sections are for pork (excluding bacon), beef, and chicken. Go look at the hotdogs and compare how many are made with pork and how many are made with beef. Im not saying America hates pork but given the choice of pork, beef or chicken; most Americans are picking beef and chicken. If Americans love pork so much please explain to me why we export nearly 70% of the pork produced in America. Explain to me why chicken and beef sales are drastically higher than pork sales. There are minor exceptions like bacon (i forgot sausage) but aside from those 2 and ham at holidays the day to day sales of pork in America are pretty low compared* to chicken and beef.
@commoncents9732
@commoncents9732 15 сағат бұрын
@@raulo19999 Yes I did forget sausage (my bad) but as far as day to day pork sales they pale in comparison to chicken and beef. Ham is usually something consumed primarily around holidays and spare ribs are seasonal as well (summer). If you compare chicken, beef, and pork sales you will see that pork has been in decline in America* for well over a decade now, probably closer to 2. On the contrary, pork sales in Asia are increasing which is why a large part of our pork is going there. Ever since American's learned pork contained a lot of saturated fats it seems it has become less and less popular.

@commoncents9732 my gosh who shit in your cereal? Again you underestimate the potential if they play their cards right. Again America is a huge country with a vast swath of cultures. Also, any stores I live in will probably have the more no typical foods. So that example isn't a good idea. I'm guessing you probably live in a big city and think that big city is the entire world.

Fair. Someone would have to convince the American people to pay a premium for pork which most ppl assume should be cheaper than other meats. BUT it can be done with branding. Look at vital farms. They charge 8 for eggs cause it’s free range and dances with wolves. (😂) And they have a ten dollar version they are supposed to be coming out with that’s ’regenerative sustainable … angel dusted” (🙄) and theres a consumer for that.
