The ULTIMATE Truck Bed Camping rig - Fly Fishing Road Trip North Carolina!

I'm spending a week in North Carolina exploring several of the dispersed camping areas and trout streams. A guy reached out to me on social media and offered to share his knowledge of the area with me. I'll spend the next week truck bed camping and fly fishing several of the area's awesome trout streams. I decided to replace my Nissan with a new extended cab Chevy Colorado ZR2 after a having a couple noises checked and learning it needed several thousand dollars in repairs to be road safe. So glad I did the new adventure rig is great! It has a 74 inch bed and all the off road features I could ever need plus ton of space to live off the grid for weeks at a time. Road tripping all across the US will be super fun in the new adventure rig!

Congrats on the new truck! You will be able to get further out there in a reliable rig. Have you thought about a basket on top to move some of the kit you carry inside out? Throw a decent awning on the side of that and you could hang out even in the rain. Cheers and enjoy the new rig.

I have looked at one or adding solar on top...but I also want to bring my kayak on the road this year so that space is filled lol. I have a diy tarp system I did a dedicated vid on it in Dec I think.

I was so close but, I went with chevy b/c it's the only dealer local to where I live and it's a great road tripping ride which Toyota isn't known for. All other dealers are at least 45 miles away. Last month I waited 8 hrs to have my truck looked at by the closest Nissan dealership. Took them an hour to tell me what was wrong. I can't tell you how many days I've lost waiting in out of town service departments just to run a diagnostic.

@@LooknFishy I understand a lot goes into decisions, I waited a full day in Illinois one time coming back from a bow hunting trip just for diagnosis as well, that’s cuz we were from PA!!! I was Very upset!!! I stopped at a rest stop and she would not start back up, that really sucked!!! And we didn’t kill deer!!! It’s a dope color you have!!!! Love it!!

Nice setup. If you want more headroom I suggest you look into the company Topperlift. They make an electronic 4 post lift system that raises your truck topper up to give you more room for camping. It has soft panels that fill the gap as well as adds extra room so your tailgate is enclosed as well.

I've really enjoyed by builds! I considered it, the decked system sits around12 inches high (mine is 10 inches). I wish they made half a system...I really want the lockable storage!

I do a lot of fishing in NC and I cannot identify where you were. Kind of bothers me that there is a dispersed car camp location so close to what looks like a wild stream and I have little idea of where it is. Hmmmm, I’ll have to figure that out.
