I love Toughbuilt stuff, I've even made a custom belt mounted soldering station that uses a toughbuilt clip, I use it for LED strip installation work, it holds a TS100 iron, DeWalt battery to power it and a reel of solder.

Yes you can stand on the t stack, it's a bit of a balancing act. When you've had the box for a while you will notice the lid slamming down on your hands. I fitted a kitchen cabinet gas strut on my box, works a treat. 20N is just right.

Love a TSTAK and the Toughbuilt gear. The TSTAK’s house the gear I take out of my van at night such as power tools and test gear. I have the big handle deep box for drills which is great with the top lid section for bits. I got the Toughbuilt large electricians pouch which I use for everyday items now, saves so much time instead of rummaging around in a bag. Too heavy for a belt but I do use the shoulder strap. I’ve bought so many TSTAK boxes now thou that I’m running out of things to put in them! 🤣

@@dsesuk It's lightweight and magnetic, some of it's best features, but this unfortunately means you don't feel it missing from your pocket when you jump back into the van at home time! I've left mine stuck to the side of many amendment 3 boards 🙃.

@@JBE You know, my theory is that the magnet did for it. My keyring busted that day, so I had the van keys in my pocket. I reckon I pulled 'em out at some point and the torch whipped out with them via the magnet and sent it spinning off somewhere without my noticing.

Tstak is very good for the price point, you should check out the tstak drawers DWST-70705 and 70706 I have a bunch for van drawers, also they have the same clip system and connect to the Stanley fatmax line, all owned by black and decker. The CK technicians rucksack is the best answer I’ve found, holds all your hand tools and a drill with both hands free and saves smashing your knees. Tool pouches - vaunt are great because you basically build your own, I needed dual drill holsters and smaller pouches.

I know with my Megger MIT420 Insulation tester, it will alarm when a voltage above 50V is present, and it also disables the test. So even if you were daft enough to press the test button with voltage present, nothing happens. Even if you are in the scenario of actually doing an insulation test on a dead circuit and the circuit then became live, the tester just cuts-out. Interesting to know if the Megger MFT employs the same technology. Is it just a blown fuse on the Metrel or does it have to go away for repair? We did some thing similar with an old Metrel 61557 and it was good night Vienna for it.
@dsesuk
@dsesuk 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, neither Nige nor I are quite sure how the fuse got blown, but it is just a fuse. He was doing r1+r2 testing on a dead socket circuit at the time when he plugged it into a live socket on another circuit. I presume he quickly connected and pushed the test button just before the Metrel's CPU detected the voltage and locked out the test(?)

I’am not a fan of the tool pouch , I like to look for a particular tool , there’s nothing better in my opinion than rummaging around in a toolbox/bag . As for that de Walt stack Stanley do the same at half the price. Disappointed that you have dropped the Robins for the Megger 🤣, also type AC or type A doesn’t really matter any more under amendment 2 as we are only required to test on the AC setting , so swapping from one tester to another seams pointless , test carry on testing at 1/2 x / 1x / and 5x but we don’t have to worry weather it’s a type Ac or a type A , just my own personal opinion, but who am I to argue i’am just a humble spark who’s opinion means nothing. Fantastic video as always mate 👍👍❤️

Ah, well I wasn't convinced the Robin was putting out sane numbers! The red Amprobe certainly needs some attention. That's why I blew the dust off the Megger, but I haven't given up on the other kit. Cheers chaps. Why did you knock off work unexpectedly🤔🤔 It's not like tou to explain these things. I've had the Tstak system for years and like it, especially as my old Stanley clear lid boxes are interchangeable (the same company as Dewalt). I use one with the tote tray for small stuff and without it in the others for power tools. The wheeled base one is worth a look at as well, especially if it's a trek to the site. As for the 30kg limit for standing on them...Pah!... , just make sure the lid's buckled down. Ive just moved to the Milwaukee Packout as they're bigger, but a downside for transporting them. Bearing in mind you state Megger is bulletproof I am now wondering, with your last video which convincing me to save £65 & go for the Ethos 8600, should I stick with Megger and pair my 1741+ with their EV 210. Dilemmas! The fact your 1552 doesn't do type A RCDs doesn't really matter now surely, (Don't call me Shirley) following Amd 2 having only requirement as x1 on AC setting?
@dsesuk

We were supposed to be on an EICR yesterday Olly, but it was clear the place was in a horrendous state, so rather than charge the chap for an inspection only to tell him it needs a rewire, we talked ourselves out of the job and jumped straight to the rewire part! No point charging for inspecting stuff that clearly needs ripping out, and the place was uninhabited and in for a refurb anyway. Still, it meant we suddenly had some unexpected time on our hands! And yes, no need to test a Type-A as anything other than a Type-AC. Still arguably best to test it to confirm all functions are working, but the Megger does the do for most of what I need, so back onto the van it goes!

Haha! Or a queue four-deep at the counter while you can hear 'em all having a jolly out back! A bugbear of mine at any counter is when they answer the phone while you're stood there waiting for service. Never mind whose calling, I'm here in person! Just because someone's calling in on the telephone doesn't give them priority!
