Also I just love the name of Gerard's Schrift, the Miracle. It just has an otherworldly feel about it you know. Like just the name itself sounds like it should be stupid powerful and something to be weary of, yet also has a sort of positive conotation to it since Miracles are often depicted as something positive.

I find it quite ironic but also fitting that it took a literal miracle to save the Shinigami from the Gerard (and also the ultimate misfortune to fall upon Jugram- which technically ended up as a misfortune for Yhwach). Gerard was wrecking them left and right, surviving every hit- till the last miracle that ended up in the favour of the Shinigami. He is a character that is about brute strength, like a lot of others, but his affable personality was actually quite fun to read through.

It's also kind of Funny because Gerard in someways is kind of what you'd imagine the Western Equivalent to a Soul Reaper would be, a Western Style Warrior who fights using a sword with a unique ability to help in battle.

I really love that Gerard actually looks like a Norse Warrior to really emphasize the more Western Style of the Sternritters. We've gotten so used to characters in Bleach being heavily Japanese it's very refreshing to see other Warriors from across the world and time get a chance to shine. Though I do think it was a little bit disappointing they didn't give Gerard an Axe or Hammer to better fit with his Thor like Design.

The Quincy race is as old as the Shinigami, so Gerard probably is a quincy norseman straight from the 9th century. We know he's the Soul King's heart, but rather than being literally it, Geard may be the heart's vessel. Like Ukitake being a vessel for the Soul King's Right hand. That would make Pernida ,the Soul King's left hand, the only sentient limb to have joined Juha Bach's army.

Yeah, technically the giants in Norse Mythology are known as the Jotunn or Frost Giants, called so because they come from Jotunheim or the land of the giants. Titans is strictly a Greek term and refers to the massive beings who precede the Greek Gods.

This Gerard Valkyrie guy reminds me of the opposite bad side of Thor from the Marvel comics, you know? A powerful of the bad Quinices to also be a show off, but really is powerful with the other last remaining battle the heroes have to fight against with him the other three members. In a sense he seems like he's meant to embody all the negative traits associated with Norse Warriors. Unhinged Bloodlust, Limitless Pride, Quest for Mindless Violence, Thor had those same traits but he also understood things like restraint and compassion.

Really hoping the anime expands Gerards fight. It should probably be done in stages, first with the Shinji, Byakuya, Renji and co. And I think Renji using his bankai in the trailer like we see is him using it against Gerard. After they're done, fights against the Vizards, expanding it isn't necessary but ig it wouldn't be bad too. Then we get to the 3 captains. That fight should definitely be the most expanded upon especially towards the end, where we know during the time Kubo was sick and probably wanted to just finish it quickly, hope the anime does it differently. After the reveal that the cross is Gerards weakness we should get a scene where the captains realize that and strategize an attack, finishing him off, rather than just Yhwach doing it, bcs it's like their efforts were in vain, Kenpachi went bankai, Toshiro got an upgrade, Byakuya used a new lethal move, if all that didn't finish him off it really was just a waste of their efforts.

I imagine it will. Gerard's end was seemingly one of the things fans complained the most about and Kubo was essentially rushed to end the manga, but has had several years to hammer out the story. So I'm pretty confident he'll add a lot more.

Not gonna lie but I was half expecting Gerard when he activated he's Volstanding to make him look more like Odin since he has a Norse Design and Odin is the King of the Norse Gods, thus it would make sense a guy inspired by Norse Mythology at his most powerful would look like the strongest of the Norse Gods.

He's defintely the strongest behind Yhwach. Not even bankai kenpachi and adult toshiro could kill him or destroy his cross as kubo stated. He made bankai byakuya look like trash in his 2nd weakest form.

In terms of his design. He could also be based of the artistic interpretation of a Germanic warrior; which would fit the German theme of the Quincies. In Germany there is a statue of the Germanic Warrior "Hermann", also known as Arminius, who was the man who united the Germanic tribes, to fend of the invading Romans under General Varus. The statue depicts Hermann with a winged helmet (common for artistic portrails of Germanics), as well a short sword and a shield. To be fair it's not a round shield as Gerard has, but I think the similiarities are still there. I can also be noted, that the Romans never managed to conquer Germania; just like the Shinigami were never able to take down Gerard. I know the last point sounds a bit like a stretch, but I really like the idea, that the Quincies, which have so many German influences, whould have a literal Germanic warrior within their ranks; btw, yes valkyries also exist within Germanic mythology.

9:55 when you boss turns around looking like he is becoming a Chaos god or one of the Great Old One’s you agree and slowly leave the room, them the building, the town, the state, the Country and the planet and if you can manage it the dimension you’re in because it’s not a good thing when someone starts looking like that, even if your working for them there will be a point where your on the menu. On a side not it bugs me that people think the Soul King is against or angry with the Shinigami, he clearly let what happened to him happen (for whatever his reason was) he was/is omnipotent Omni present he saw this coming and didn’t attempt to stop it also even if he didn’t somehow see it coming do we really believe that someone as powerful as the soul king could have been subdued and apparently without any of his attackers been killed or even wounded? No that’s nonsense, the only logical option is that he saw the way the world would turn out if he wasn’t stopped but he couldn’t stop himself so when this situation arose he let it happen or he even engineered it with Ichba (I can’t think how it’s spelled but you probably know who I’m talking about the leader of the zero division).

Kubo was probably figuring out the Quincy Elites' powers one chapter at a time; Askin was the first to describe his own powers, Lille described his next, and we wouldn't see more of Pernida and Gerard until they got to fight themselves several chapters later.

I think people over hype him some people think that his power is endless I don’t think so. I don’t think no ability ywach Gives to a person can over power his. And also with his miracles, I think it’s a certain amount of miracles he can perform because even in real life certain amount of miracles, a person can have. So eventually, I think his miracle ability was gonna run out where all the soul reapers attacking him at once.

And unkillable because miracles. Besides being Viking theme which is cool, very lame character and schrift imo. Worst Quincy royal guard in terms of interest. The others are so unique
