Hi Nigel that swift flowing water of the Thames gave me the creeps. Usually youre at canals which seem much safer. I love to see and hear the swans geese and ducks and birds. Here in Australia today it is 34 degrees celcious air conditioning on to keep cool. Its hard to imagine your freezing weather. Good luck.

I love what you guys do, thank you for cleaning the rivers. It certainly amazes me the things you find, it’s very cold in Britain at the moment, so please take care, your a really nice bunch and I really enjoy your videos. Xxx

The galvanised shackle and the pulley block probably came of the old working boats that ran from Tilbury to London docks

You should try this spot again with the magnets that you have now. Might find something buried deep in the silt.

They start out where the Wilts & Berks canal used to join the Thames. The bit where the long strip is recovered is where the big slipway of the Davis boatyard was in the 1900s. They built boilers, steam engines as well as boats for customers in south America, the Caribbean, the Nile and New Zealand. The fancy railings were on St Helen's Wharf. The now gone ford across the Thames was probably next to this and this was the centre of River trade. They then cross the bridge from old Berkshire into Oxfordshire (Now all Oxfordshire due to boundary changes). The bridge was widened in the 20's so might the wedge thing be a stonemasons tool? The final part is on Culham Bridge that was over the Swift Ditch. That was an ancient cannalised stream that bypassed the loop of the Thames that Abingdon (and the old shallow river) is on.

Serious question; why are SO many nails constantly being pulled out of the Thames!? Doesn't matter if magnets, or watching mudlarkers on foreshore - there are tons of nails, of all shapes & sizes, covering the London banks and apparently even more In the waters

Nigel, that big square nail looks like you could kill Dracula with it. I get that from my childhood living with my older brother. All games involved Dracula, Werewolf, cowboys and Indians a and he loved scaring me at any chance with monster masks. Why are boys so naughty??🥰🐕🇺🇸
