That story was very touching. I hope my grandchildren will remember me as fondly as you have remembered yours. I am sure she is proud of you. Being a grandmother myself i can identify with what she was going through. I am teaching my grandchildren how to prepare as soon as hurricane season starts. I just can't believe they had school open with a hurricane barreling down on you.

@@Rlight96able back in 1988, news did not travel as fast. So when the bulletin went out to close schools, it didn't get to the rural areas as quickly. So by the time the news came the morning of the hurricane, we were already on our way to school. Keep in mind that the last time Jamaica had a hurricane. before Gilbert, I think it was 1951... Grandma was indeed proud of me....once you are great to your grand kids, they will remember you with fond memories.
